My Blind Husband .

she opens the door quietly trying not to make a sound .

" mom , dad ? "

the silence was almost deadly .

" boo " i popped out into her face with an old halloween mask on .

" AHH . "

" haha , gotcha . "

" mom , why would you do that ? you know how much i hate halloween . "

" sweetie i know , but get into the spirit because we're going big this year . "

" but - "

i cut her off as soon as she was going to say something because i already knew what she was going to say .

" look love , i know you don't like halloween because you're a scaredy cat , but you've gotta come out of your shell , can't hide for - "

before i could finish my sentence she started complaining about the stench coming from the basement .

" omg mom , what is that terrible smell coming from the trash ? "

they all assumed it was the trash because why would they think the basement .

frank had just walked in when she said that .

" baby i don't know what that smell is but it's not the trash because your mom just changed the trash bag . "

maybe it's a sign we should do a deep cleaning of the house , " i said swallowing hard .

" yea , we haven't done one in a while "

we all got changed &' started cleaning . i volunteered to clean the basement , because i obviously didn't want them to see the bodies .

i used to dig steep holes all the time so i got dont pretty quick without anyone noticing what i was doing .

when my daughter asked why there were so many holes in the backyard i just told her charlie liked to dig holes , which he did but not that deep .

minutes later .

" hey , the smells gone mom . "

" oh well that's great , i wonder what it was "

i put fabric softener down there to get rid of the dead smell , but that's normal to make it smell good so they wouldn't even suspect anything like that .
