June is like a warm towel, fresh from the dryer and soft to the touch. Instead of a towel she is skin with tan lines, gold jewelry and sand covered feet. A sleeping body at peace. Chest rising with every breath. The sunlight casting shadows on her curves. Her sun hat protects her carved face. If she'd touch me I'd fall asleep too. The instant knock out and automatic sleep takes over.
"Bitch, you need sunscreen if you keep standing there looking at me," June opens her eyes and looks up at me. I smile and sit next to her. "You're cuter when you're sleeping." I turned to see her reaction. June rolled her honey eyes. "Can you get me a drink?" She sat up. I extended my palm out to her. "I don't have my wallet sweetheart." I flashed her a smirk. She sighs and grabs her wallet. "Here. Now go." June puts her sunglasses on and lays back down.
Such a diva.
I made my way to the Starbucks by the parking lot. Let's see if I remember her complicated ass drink. I took a deep breath. "Can I get a grande matcha tea latte with non fat milk, 2 pumps of brown sugar, extra foam, light ice, and stirred for 6 seconds?" The cashier sighed. As I waited for June's potion, a girl sat across from me. "Hey. Remember me?" I looked up at her. I was avoiding all eye contact after ordering.
"Yeah. How are you Ruby?"
"I'm good. You look a lot better than the last time I saw you." She blushed and rested her face on her palm.
Immediately, I felt uncomfortable. Thank god June isn't here. She'd flip if she saw my ex.
Finally, as if a miracle happened, June's drink was ready. "I have to go. It was nice talking to you though." Before I could walk away, she spoke. "Oh I'll walk with you." Ruby insisted. It's like she wanted June to rip my hair out. I didn't tell her I was with her though. But now would be a good time.
Ruby didn't realize how much she interrupted people. And now it was too late to tell her. "No way. You're married? Is it June?" She smiles and points to my ring. "Yep." I fake smiled back.
We kept talking and from the side of my eye, I saw my angry wife stomping over to us. "My drink is getting hot thanks to you." She crossed her arms. "June! Still the same fiery pit?" Ruby laughed. I pleaded her with my eyes to not throw a fit. June sighed. "Nice seeing you too. Bye." We walked back to our spot. I waved at Ruby. She smiled and waved back.
"Why are you still looking at her?" June frowned at me. "I was just saying bye. You're such a jealous girl." I sat down next to her. Her cheeks flushed a light red. "N-no. I'm not!" She crossed her arms. I laughed and kissed her."Here's your 10-step drink."
"Shut up, you like it too."Her drink is way too long, but I love seeing my wife happy.
