Parents

They expect to much of us
or so we think
They say it's best for us
What do they mean
They want to keep us safe
But we just want to play
They tell us what to do
And that's nothing new
But what they need to understand
Is that we'll need to let go of their hand
That time is soon to come
When we need freedom
To find who we are
Be all we can be
We'll make them happy
We'll make them proud
We say hate them
But that's not true
What we really mean
Is we love you
