Stella subtly edged away from Jason as they approached the grand arena, quickening her pace to slip ahead in search of Ruby and the rest of her group.
Without a word, they naturally drifted apart, each drawn back to their respective clans. Stella felt a sense of freedom as she made her way toward her friend, leaving behind the intensity of Jason's presence, at least for now.
Jason's group was the loudest, as always, carrying an air of dominance that made it seem like they were the only ones who mattered. They took up the space effortlessly, drawing all eyes without even trying.
Stella couldn't help but feel irritated by Jason's group. She stole a glance at him and his friends, watching as they goofed off and joked among themselves, everything about them annoyed her to the core. She knew exactly why she couldn't stand them, especially him, now that she was involved with him. He was so effortlessly confident, his presence overwhelming, his careless disregard for everything around him infuriating.
The realization that she was now entangled in his chaos only deepened her frustration. No matter how much she wanted to ignore it, she couldn't. She was caught in his world, pulled into his orbit whether she liked it or not.
But then, just as quickly, she pulled herself back. The frustration jolted her awake, shaking off the unease lingering from the past events. She refused to let it define her anymore. In that moment, she snapped back to herself, no longer disoriented. She had found her center again.
They were the last people she wanted to be around, and she reminded herself of that with a cold, unwavering resolve.
The first task was a fire-lit maze, enchanted so that the walls shifted and changed as they moved. The maze was filled with traps, illusions, and creatures lurking in the dark.
The goal: Finding the exit before time ran out. And it wasn't just about speed.
Jason led the way, his sharp instincts guiding him through the twists and turns, but he wasn't alone. His faction moved as a unit, proving why Blaze was always a step ahead.
Suddenly, a wall burst into flames behind them, cutting off their path. Noah, one of Jason's closest friends, smirked.
"Finally, some fun."
Without hesitation, Noah raised his hands and manipulated the fire, bending it to their will. "Are you guys even trying? I could do this blindfolded."
While others might have panicked, Blaze thrived in the heat.
Behind them, Alex, another strong competitor, laughed as he used his skills to break through another dead end, finding an alternative route. Unlike Jason and Noah, Alex was different, responsible, reliable, and skilled in everything he did.
Together, they outmaneuvered the maze, using wit, agility, and a little bit of arrogance to push forward. Within moments, they were the first to reach the exit, securing victory in the first trial.
The second test required something different; a magical duel. This wasn't about brute strength, it was about, reflexes, and knowing your opponent's weaknesses.
The arena was set. Flickering lights cast shadows over the stage, and the opposing faction, Shade, stood opposite them.
Jason stepped forward. The moment he did, a murmur ran through the crowd, he was up first. His opponent, a sharp-eyed boy from Shade, watched him carefully.
