Aria's gaze moved to Stella, her expression softening. There was a brief, almost curious look in her eyes, but she smiled warmly at Stella. "So you must be the one who's been keeping him on his toes." She said with a tilt of her head.
Stella gave a small, somewhat tight smile, feeling a little out of place. She wasn't sure what to make of the situation. "Yeah, I guess so," she replied, her voice lacking the usual confidence she had around Jason.
Jason's eyes flickered between the two of them for a moment, his smile flickering just slightly. "Aria's one of the survivors. She's been here longer than me."
Aria nodded, her expression growing serious again. "I've seen more than my fair share of this world's tricks. And I've learned how to get around them. We've all had to." She motioned toward the group gathered around the table. "But you should know, it's not always easy. It's about more than just surviving; it's about knowing how to navigate the pull. And that means being careful who you trust."
Stella looked at Jason, and he nodded as if confirming what Aria had just said. "Trust is something you don't give out lightly here," Jason said quietly. "You have to be careful."
The air around them seemed to grow heavier as the room fell into a moment of quiet reflection. Stella couldn't help but feel a lingering unease, the kind that always settled in her chest when she moved into new spaces, and was around new people.
Aria's eyes softened again, but there was something calculating in her gaze as she observed Stella and Jason, as if weighing something.
Stella felt her heart beat faster, but she didn't speak. Instead, she glanced at Jason, silently reaffirming their connection, and felt herself draw closer to him once again. Whatever this world held in store for them, she knew they would need each other more than ever.
As they moved deeper into the room with Aria, it was clear that their journey had only just begun. The pull of the world wasn't just waiting for them to slip up–it was closing in, and they would need all the knowledge and protection they could get. The answers would come in time, but the road ahead was fraught with danger. And the cost of making it through was something they would have to figure out together.
As the group settled around the table, Jason stood close to Stella, his posture relaxed but alert, as Aria exchanged words with the others. They discussed their plans, the pull of the world, and what had to be done to avoid becoming lost souls. Amidst the murmurs of the group, one of the survivors–a man with graying hair and a weathered face–turned his gaze to Jason and Stella. He had been listening quietly, his hands folded in front of him.
The man stood, his presence commanding immediate attention. The room grew quiet as he addressed everyone seated at the table.
"Everyone, I need your attention," he said, his voice steady but carrying a certain gravity. "The situation has changed. We've just received word–the world is becoming unstable again. The pull is growing stronger. There's danger on the horizon, and we must remain alert."
He paused, ensuring the weight of his words was fully understood. The others around the table exchanged glances, the tension in the room palpable.
"The time lapse," he continued, his gaze shifting to Jason and Stella. "As you know, when the portal was activated, time stopped for them–both worlds are frozen in place. They're not in immediate danger, but we are witnessing chaos between the two worlds. This disruption, this instability, is spreading. While we survivors are safe for the time being, it's still a volatile situation."
The room fell into a heavy silence as the implications sank in. The man's expression hardened, his tone sharp as he directed his attention toward Jason and Stella.
