Aurora Quinn POV (ten years old)

"Aurora! Will you come down here?" I skip down the stairs at my moms call and meet her in the living room. "I have a little gathering for my old classmates this afternoon and I'm bringing you kids with me. Go get ready we're leaving in a half hour."

I walk back up the stairs and into my room. I pick out a pink shirt with a poodle on the front and some jeans. I get my pink sparkly converse to match my shirt and lace them up. I grab the tv remote and turn off my favorite program, Batman. My Dad loves it so I kind of got hooked. I'm not a super nerd though who reads all of the comics.

I walk across my pink room over to my door and look at my appearance using the mirror on the back of it. I have my deep red curls into pigtails and my green eyes seem larger today. I also have some chocolate at the corner of my mouth. I use the back of my hand and wipe it off. As soon as I'm satisfied with my appearance I open my door and walk down the hall to my older sisters room.

Tap, tap, tap. I slightly knock on her door.

"Helllooooo?" She answers. I slightly open the door and see her lying on her bed reading. I push open the door more and walk in. Lynn is only a year and a half older than me and goes to Junior High.

"Are you ready to go to the dinner thingy with mom?" I ask her.

"Oh yeah, let me just throw on some better jeans." She walks to her walk-in closet and goes through with jeans she wants. She slips the winner on, walks back out throwing her old jeans in her laundry basket. "There. All done." She smiles sweetly at me and we walk out of her room together.

"Girls-" our mom starts to call as we're heading down. "Oh good you're ready."

"Mom where's Peter," I ask. Peter is my younger brother. He is six years old and goes to the same school as me.

"Oh yeah." She turns around and heads towards the kitchen. She walks back out with Peter holding her hand.

We walk to our suv and I hop in the middle seats with Peter while mom and Lynn sit in the front. We're on our way to this party as we drive out of my neighborhood, Oak Lawn. I guess it's one of the posher neighborhoods around.

We make it to the venue in fifteen minutes and shuffle out of the car. I walk in behind my family but I go a separate direction. I walk towards a group of people around my age, maybe older and they're all listening to this one girl. She had brown hair and blue eyes, she seems very confident and is telling them a story. I walk up towards the back of her and hear her telling the crowd that her Dad died a couple years ago. The crowd says aww in unison.

"You're just one step closer to becoming batman," I say in a hushed tone but the girl heard me and turns around. She just has this look on her face and is smiling.

That is the story of how I met my best friend.
