Harley Hasting's POV (10 years old)

"Harley, get your tiny little butt down here," my mom screamed from the bottom of the stairs.

I giggled and ducked, narrowly avoiding the pillow thrown at my head. My mom didn't throw it, silly. My big brother Robin did. He's one year older then me and a jerk some times.

I somersaulted off of my bed and onto the floor. I ninja rolled across the floor until I was at the door. I stuck my tongue out at my brother. Robin narrowed his big blue eyes at me and made a move to come toward me. I squealed and ran out of the room, my dark brown braid flying behind me.

My mom stood at the bottom of the stairs with her hands on her hips and a mock scowl covering her beautiful face. High cheekbones. Light brown hair skidding over her shoulders and reaching her elbows. Big blue eyes. Light skin. Petite figure. The only thing I have in common with her is her big blue eyes, like my brother.

But unlike my mom, I have dark curly hair that is untamable and reaches my elbows. My skin is olive toned and I'm tiny.

"Harley, we are leaving in five minutes. You aren't even close to being ready," my mom sighed.

I smiled brightly and ran up the stairs, giggling as I went. I avoided my brothers room at all costs, knowing he was waiting for revenge.

I slipped on a pair of jeans and pretty blue, flowy tank top. I laced up my favorite pair of beat up black and white converse. I redid my braid, knowing hair was probably sticking out in every direction. I smiled into the mirror when I was finished, making two little dimples show up on my cheeks.

"Harleeeeeeey," my brother screamed from downstairs. "Hurry up!"

I huffed and rolled my eyes, but ran down the stairs anyway. Once my mom noticed me, she smiled and kissed the top of my head before ushering us into the car. I tried fighting for the front seat but because Robin is "older" he gets it. I poured and crossed my arms the whole way.

When we got there, I couldn't help but stare. The house was huge. I don't really know why we are here, some friend reunion of the sort. But dang.

The house has to be at least three stories. It's lawn is perfectly cut and is beautifully designed. The driveway fits three cars! We parked on the side of the road though, since there were already a bunch of cars scatters around the house.

Me and Robin quickly hopped out of the car, my mom screaming at us to behave. We both gave her innocent smiles as if to say "who me?"

The owners of the house were really nice. They greeted us at the door with smiles and hugs. I have no idea who they are, but it's only polite to smile and hug back.

I was instantly shoved toward the other kids here that are my age. Well, not shoved. But you get the point. We sat in a circle and talked about random stuff, getting to know each other.

When it was my turn, I began telling them about how my dad died when I was seven. It was really hard, because he was my best friend. He died in a plane crash. Which is why I have always been so afraid of airplanes.

In the middle of my story, a pretty red head walked into the room. Her red hair is pulled back into pigtails and little freckles dot her nose. Her eyes are a beautiful green and her skin slightly lighter then mine.

She sat down next to me and said the words that completely made my life. Words I could never forget. Words that introduced me to my best friend.

"You're just one step closer to becoming batman."
