Chapter 1

Clarke POV

I felt like someone was trying a bit hard to shake my shoulder, I groaned sleepy and tried away from shaking to press my head further into my bed. It's hard, uncomfortable, and doesn't at all feel like my one at home. I jolt awake when I remember where I am. I flinch away from the hands, pressing myself against the wall. It's dark, and I can't see enough to make out anything other than the bright one from the flashlight on me and the shape of the person waking me up. <Is it time for me to be floated? No, it can't be possible. My birthday is not for next month.>

Flashlight turned to a person to show me who they were as I saw them,

[ Clarke?]

I exhale, releasing most of the tension in my body. It's my father. But for him to risk coming here in the middle of the night..... Something might have gone horribly wrong.

[ Dad?] I nearly forgot about using sign language. This past year in solitary hasn't given me much need to sign language.

[ yea, sweetheart, it's me. Come with me, please.] There's a rush for him to use sign language that strikes terrible into my heart.

[ Ok.]

He takes my hand, surprising me with its suddenness. Dad puts me up, and I wrap my arms around him. I let out a shake breath. It's been a long time since I've missed him.

[ We're headed to the Mecha station. Put this on and stay close to me.] He sign language, pulling away slightly.

I take what he gave me. It's a blue hoodie. I put it on and follow as he leads me. He taps twice on the door, and Jackson opens the door. I blink, surprised to see him.

" Thank you, Jackson. Now get out of here so you don't get caught. " Dad says.

" Yes, sir, though I could say the same to you. Stay safe, Jake. " He says. Jackson turns look at me, [ it's nice to see you again, Clarke.] He gives me a nod and smiles. He waved at me a goodbye.

His sign ring of finality, and I feel a familiar panic rising in my throat. <why are we going to Mecha station?>

I follow him, silence out of the Sky Box, taking my first breath of free air in a year. I keep my head down, trying to be normal around the patrolling guards.

When we're in an empty corridor, I tap on Dad's shoulder, and I ask the question that's been in my mind since I knew it was Jake in my cell. [ What's going on?]

[ I'll explain everything when we get to Mecha station, I promise.] Dad respond sign.

Walking there feels like it takes a few hours, but in reality, it might be fifteen minutes. Dad flashes his Council card to the card reader, and the door to Mecha opens with a hiss.

To my surprise, there's already someone else here. It's my mom and this pretty two girls that one of girls can't be much older than me with black hair and grease on her clothes and one of other girls can't be same age as me with dark black hair and normal clothes.

Mom rushes to me and pulls me a hug tight.

" Hey, Jake. Is this her?" She wipes her hands on her pants.

" Yes, Raven." Dad says.

[ Clarke, this is Raven and Octavia.] Mom signed to me gestures to girls, but I'm not sure why they're here.

[ Nice to meet you, Clarke. I'm Raven Reyes, the youngest Zero-G Mechanic in 52 years. And this is Octavia Blake, use been in cell.] She gives me a cocky grin. To my surprise, Raven can sign language, We shake hands, and Raven looks to Dad. " Have you told her yet? "

Dad looks almost sheepish. " No."

[ Come on, Jake. You broke your daughter out of prison and dragged her here and didn't even explain what's going on.] Raven signs, sighs.

[ I was going to tell her when we got here.] Dad defends, crossing his arms.

[ Really.] Raven doesn't look impressed in the least. " Fine, just tell her now before Kene finds out Octavia and Clarke's gone and storms the Ark looking for them."

Dad and mom look for others who need explain, dad nod to mom and can talk to me. Mom turns to look at me. [ Jaha has been adamant for this past year, blocking all of Dad and my attempts to get you pardoned. Now, he's going to float you.]

[ Mom, that's the entire reason I was in the Sky Box. They were waiting for me to turn eighteen so they could float me.] I sign, confused.

[ No, sweetheart, he has decided to use his power as chancellor to float you before you turn eighteen.] Dad sign.

[ Can he even do that?] I question.

[ Apparently] Mom sighs. [ That's why Dad and I've been working with Raven. She's been refurbishing an escape pod.]

[ An escape pod?] My eyes widen. [ You want to send me to earth?]

[ Yes. We're going to be sending the hundred delinquents down later.] Dad sign.

" If we survive that long." Raven mutters.

" Raven." Mom scolds.

[ Clarke, we're sorry, but you don't really have a good choice here. Please say you'll go.] Dad sign.

[ I'm alone?] I sign.

[ No, Raven and Octavia go with you.] Mom sign.

I swallow. [ Will you and dad be coming down?]

[ if it's safe, honey. We love you.] She wraps me in her arms and Dad join us, and I let a few tears fall, grieving for everything and everyone I'm leaving behind.

I step back after a couple of minutes and take a deep breath. [ I love you, Dad, and mom.] I sign.

Octavia and I went into the escape pod, and Raven said goodbye to them and then joined us in the escape pod.

Mom and dad leave the pod and close the door behind them. Dad and mom both get back behind a sealed door so they won't get pulled into space when Raven are ready to be launched. Raven mentally goes over everything she has to do in her head.

[ Ready, Clarke?]..... " Ready, Octavia?" Raven mutters and sign.

" Hell yeah!" Octavia yells

[ Yes.] I sign.

Raven nods to us and presses the button. Girls and I'm immediately sucked back towards earth.
