A/N: Circa 1996. Another bad night that becomes a good morning with your favourite person in the world. (Reader/Adam Horovitz)
You job has 'seasons'. Particular times of the year when things get crazy. These past few weeks have been exactly that, to the point where you have been forced of putting extra hours and extra energy into getting things done. It's Friday night and you can't wait to head back home, but things get derailed and you can't leave the office until it's almost midnight. When you get back home, you're tired to the point you're too lazy to cook yourself dinner and head straight to your bedroom only to find your boyfriend in your bed, his headphones plugged into his guitar. "Hey! You're home! I was starting to get worried", he says, getting them off his ears and getting his guitar to lay in the bed. "Yeah, I had to stay a bit of overtime", you say walking straight to your bathroom, aiming to get rid of your make up and not even taking the time to greet him. Your head is so busy in your thoughts you completely forgot he had just returned from touring, and your mind didn't reacted to seeing him for the first time in months. "Babe, is everything alright?", he asks while standing in the door frame, looking at you through the mirror. "It's... It's just another bad night", you reply, pretty sure you've had a lot of bad nights lately. He walks towards you and hugs you from behind before talking again: "I'll stay with you until it turns into a good morning, then". And with a small kiss in your temple, he walks towards the shower and gets the water running. "I bet a shower will help you relax those muscles. Jump in and when you're done, I'll have dinner ready". - "Adam, you don't have to." - "I know. But I want to. And you deserve it". He leaves another kiss, this time in your lips, before he walks out of the bathroom towards your kitchen.
By the time your shower is done, he has a light salad ready for you, which you munch on while sharing with him how stressful your job has been in the past few weeks. Suddenly, with your belly full and your muscles a lot more relaxed due to the warm shower, it hits you. Here you are, talking with him in person, after many weeks of being away from each other. "As silly as this may sound, I've just now realized you're here", you say to him, holding into his hand. "I'm always here. Sometimes at the other side of the phone, but I'll always have your back, ok?".
Your initial plan was getting home and go straight to fall asleep, but with Adam here, that doesn't quite work out like that. You two spend the rest of the night talking about random adventures Adam had while touring, how silly Mike was being with projects for the Grand Royal magazine or what great life insight Yauch had shared with him. And you talked of a friend's birthday party he had missed and how one of your nephews had been learning how to ride a bike with your help. Every once in a while, there would be silence, but it was never uncomfortable. It was silence used to share the kisses you had missed while being apart, or just cuddling, sharing the sound of your heartbeats. You were tired, but you didn't wanted to miss another minute without sharing that with him.
Soon, the first rays of sunshine began spreading inside your bedroom, coming in from one of your windows. Somehow, the bad night had come to an end, and a good morning was announced. You two were sort of sleepy, but you had the rest of the Saturday to fullfil the hours of sleep you had consciously decided to miss. "Babe, can you promise me something?", Adam asked, his voice a lot more raspy than usual due to the lack of sleep and tiredness. You hummed and moved slightly, just enough to stare at his face. "Whenever you're exhausted, tell me. I'll always be here to soothe that away".
A/N: I'm happily taking requests or ideas for one shots or full length fics. Drop them off as comments and I'll see if I can get on to write that.
