The morning was Tubbo's favourite time of the day. The sunrise always had a beautiful gradient of red and yellow, illuminating the kingdom in a warm gold, buildings casting shadows against the castle walls. He also loved the noise of the birds chirping, announcing that the dark night had passed, and it was finally the next day. One other reason was that he had the amazing privilege of waking Prince Ranboo. The joy of annoying his friend to get out of bed and helping him with his morning routine was always the highlight of his day, mostly because of the annoying part. The boy lightly knocked at Ranboo's bedroom door, calling out, "Your Highness?" Tubbo, personally, hated calling his friend that, but it was the "proper" way to address the prince, according to literally every worker in the bloody kingdom.
He creaked the large door open, slowly making his way inside. The door was closed behind him, and the boy turned to his friend's bed. Tubbo snuck up to the side of his bed and leaned down to look at Ranboo. His long black and white split hair was splayed out around him, a few bits hanging off the bed. He was sleeping with his knees curled up to his stomach, in the fetal position, and his face was scrunched up. Tubbo took a piece of the hair into his hand and pushed it out of his face. The ender let out a quiet whimper, head turning towards his pillow. He was having a nightmare, and whenever Tubbo found him in this state, he immediately knew he hadn't taken his medicine for a few days. When they were younger, Ranboo began having nightmares every night. He'd yell and cry at those times, causing maids to rush in to check on him and wake him up. King Raskos, Ranboo's father, quickly put him on the same medication as him, which had stopped the nightmares. Ranboo was forgetful though and would completely forget to take the tablet before bed.
"He's lucky this time..." The boy tucked the piece of hair behind the prince's ear, trying his best to be slow and gentle. "Wake up, sleeping beauty." Ranboo stirred, face finally relaxing as he was pulled out of his nightmare and into the real world. He gave the prince a gentle shake of the shoulder and his eyes were open. Tubbo gave his friend a sweet smile. "Morning, Ranboo."
The prince hummed in response, pushing himself to sit up and brushing all of his hair to sit on his left shoulder. He watched as Tubbo reached over to grab a small box on the nightstand. He lifted the top of the box, which contained several tablets, and plopped one in the ender's hand. "You're supposed to take the medicine every night, dummy." The prince stuck his tongue out at Tubbo before putting the medicine in his mouth. His face scrunched up as he chewed, probably from the taste, and when he swallowed he let out a groan. Ranboo felt the bed dip as Tubbo sat on the end of the bed with a pile of clothes draped across his arm.
He set them down and crawled to be next to his friend, swiftly bunching up his hair in the boy's small hands. Slowly, making sure not to pull too hard, he began braiding the silky hair to keep it manageable enough for the prince. The pair sat there for a bit, Ranboo rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, while Tubbo focused on his task. The braid was never perfect like Tubbo wanted, but Ranboo liked it either way. He tied the end off with a lavender ribbon and placed the finished braid over Ranboo's shoulder. "Any big plans today?" Tubbo asked while handing Ranboo the pile of clothes.
Ranboo stood up from the bed and walked behind the folding screen, hanging the clothes on the top. "Nothing that important, just another suitress." Tubbo groaned, laying back on the bed. "You know how those visits go, though." Tubbo knew. Since Ranboo refused to go anywhere to visit a princess, his father had brought the princesses to him. It was annoying how many suitresses the king had invited to potentially be asked for their hand in marriage by the prince. Ranboo had talked about marriage before, but he refused to marry every girl his father had brought, something about wanting to find "the one" for him. Ranboo stepped out from behind the screen, all dressed for the day. It was a simple white shirt, with long puffed up sleeves, tucked into tan trousers. Ranboo sat on the bed next to Tubbo and slipped his black shoes on. "But tomorrow, I'm completely free."
