Maybe it wouldn't be so bad: the whole getting married to someone Ranboo barely knew when they got engaged. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, because it could definitely be worse. He could be impatiently waiting for Tubbo to show up and rescue him from the hell he knew as social interaction, plastering a fake smile across his face as people he doesn't remember tell him how much he had grown. He could be linking arms with his very talkative fiancée, who never seemed to run out of words to say and comments to make. It definitely was worse, but dear gods, it was much worse than he thought. Ranboo's mind raced, thought after thought running through before he even had the chance to review it. An old couple greeted him and Ember, congratulating them and sparking a short conversation with the girl. He drowned out the voice that he'd been listening to for almost an hour, and although Ember's voice was calming in other situations, it was just not what he needed at that moment. Tubbo still was avoiding him and it was the big day, the day they were supposed to run off together and leave it all behind, and he was nowhere to be found.

As he was dragged away from his position, Ranboo took a quick look around the ballroom, hoping to spot a mess of brown hair and the toothy grin he was all too familiar with, but he wasn't there. Tubbo didn't show up and Ranboo was trapped. The prince couldn't go off by himself for many reasons, but the biggest was that it didn't feel right. A life without Tubbo wouldn't feel complete and Ranboo would probably come back in the end, just for Tubbo. That all was if he even survived a day on his own outside the kingdom walls, since he had rarely ever left the castle to begin with. Being in the wilderness alone would be a death wish for the prince.

Ember squeezed his wrist and he was brought back from space. Looking down at her, he noticed the way she smiled at him and attempted to return it. "May I have this dance?" He looked up and around to notice the amount of people looking, all quiet and expectant, quickly making room for the two of them. 'Oh no' is Ranboo's first thought. The couple got the first dance and all eyes were on them, all eyes were on him. He wanted to shrivel away, crawl under a rock and hide away from any lingering gazes. He just wanted to cry.

He gulped and squeezed his eyes shut, holding out his other hand for Ember to take. The second her hand landed on his, a quiet blast was heard throughout the room, echoing off every wall and everyone went even more quiet, if that was even possible. Another, and another and soon enough, it was almost as if the noise was in the room, every second there was another and that's when the panic began. People started to scramble, running into one another, running in many different directions. Ember yelped as another went off, also causing Ranboo to jump.

"Is this a part of the ball?!"

"Remain calm!"

"Are we under attack?!"

All voices were barely heard as the noises grew louder and were definitely in the room now. From behind the large curtains that framed the window, large bursts of colour and flares set the fabric aflame. Now people were really panicking, they rushed for the doors, everyone squeezing together to fit through the large entrance. Ember and Ranboo got separated in the chaos, being torn apart by the crowd. Ranboo got pushed aside right before he could get outside and a hand grabbed his own, taking him away from everyone and down the long corridor. "Wha-!"

They stopped and the prince was pushed back

into a wall. A small hand clamped over the prince's mouth and when he attempted to wriggle away, an oh-so familiar voice spoke. "Do you wanna get caught?" Ranboo shook his head frantically. "Good, then just be quiet and follow me."

oOo

"Men, search the palace for any intruders."

Tubbo screeched to a halt and pushed Ranboo into the nearest room. It was dark, but moonlight shone through the curtains just enough for them to be able to see. The room was empty of people and seemed to be an office room. A large desk sat in front of a window, facing the door, and had papers littered across its surface. A painting hung on the wall next to the door, depicting Ranboo, the king, and a woman who was probably the queen. "Now what Tubbo?"

"Uhh..." Tubbo rushed to lock the door, and let out a shaking sigh. "Does that window open?" Ranboo looked at the window behind the desks and made his way towards it. He searched around the frame and spotted the gold latch. A couple seconds later, the window swung wide open with a loud creak. Ranboo lowered himself down first, feet touching the ground once he was fully out. Tubbo took one last look around the room before heading towards the exit.

The boy lifted himself onto the window sill as the loud sound of wood slamming against wood was heard. Tubbo looked over his shoulder, freezing up when he spotted the man in armour standing in the doorway. They locked eyes and Tubbo gulped. This was it, he was going to be caught and thrown in a cell in the deepest part of the dungeon. The man turned his head and started barking orders down the hallway, taking his eyes off of Tubbo for just a moment. "Tubbo." The whisper startled the brunet and he looked down. It was weird looking down at Ranboo, as he had always looked up at him. From this angle, Ranboo looked absolutely lovely with arms outstretched, a sweet smile, moonlight shining behind him and making him look almost angelic. "Come on, Bee."

Shaking the fear from his system, he slid off the sill and into Ranboo's arms. Yells were heard from inside and Ranboo quickly ran off, not bothering to put the smaller boy down. "I-! Ranboo!"
