After they spoke and planned for their escape, the two finally noticed the moon outside the window. Ranboo got up to find a bag they could use and Tubbo took this opportunity to spread out on the prince's bed, stretching his arms and legs until he no longer could. He relaxed his muscles, just before a yawn escaped him and he was finally realising how tired he was. The soft mattress underneath him only urged him to sleep, and he rolled over onto his side, eyes closing as he did so. The bed suddenly dipped as Ranboo dropped onto the bed. Tubbo's eyes opened wide from the sudden movement and he quickly punched Ranboo's leg in response. Ranboo chuckled, punching the smaller boy in the arm. Tubbo yelped and pushed himself up on his forearms. "I'm trying to sleep, stupid."
"In-in my room?" Tubbo nodded and let his body fall back down on the bed. He laid flat on his stomach with his head turned towards Ranboo, tongue sticking out.
The prince rolled his eyes and pushed his friend over. Tubbo laughed, making a scene of falling off the bed (which he just climbed off and sat on the floor) and gasped, "Ranboo, how could you?!" He feigned pain and flopped on the floor, playing dead.
"Overdramatic..."
"You like when I'm overdramatic..." Ranboo quickly agreed with the statement, which was responded to with a halfhearted chuckle.
The prince looked down at the boy on the floor, muscles relaxed and head lolled to the side. He'd think Tubbo was dead if it wasn't for the snores coming from him. Ranboo sighed, got up off the bed, and leaned down to pick up his friend off the cold wood floor. The prince held him bridal style and the boy in his arms whined in protest, just wanting to sleep without interruption. "You were really tired, huh?" All he got was a hum as confirmation. The pitter-patter of rain on the window across the room caught Ranboo's attention. Slowly, the noise became faster and even the thought of going outside was pointless. There was no way he'd even be able to take Tubbo to sleep in the staff's building. After some careful thought, he placed Tubbo down, wasting no time pulling back the covers of his made-up bed. Ranboo took Tubbo back in his arms and placed his head on the pillow and pulled the blanket up and over him. The boy quickly snuggled into the bed, a small smile spreading over his face.
Kneeling, the prince felt the heart in his chest hammer as he studied Tubbo's face, taking in every feature as if it was the last time he'd ever see him. The sight of Tubbo alone made him feel safe, no matter what happened. Every time Ranboo cried, Tubbo was there to wipe away the tears and he loved that about him. It didn't even matter what he was doing, because Tubbo was always there at his side when he needed him. He loved that Tubbo had stayed by his side for as long as he had. Ranboo took a stray piece of hair and pushed it behind Tubbo's ear. The boy leaned into the touch and hummed, causing Ranboo to swiftly retract his hand and stand up. He made his way over to the end of the bed and sat down, head in his hands. His face felt hotter and his heart hammered in his chest like never before. He really was weak when it came to Tubbo.

The next day, when the sun wasn't even at its peak in the sky, and the air was humid from vaporised rainwater, Ranboo was busy planning for the celebration of his engagement, well trying to at least. When he finally got on track with the arrangements, his mind would wander, then he'd snap out of his head to realise he forgot what to do. After a bit of this routine, a woman entered the room. Her strawberry red hair was pulled up into a messy bun. She looked to be older than Ranboo, maybe even his father's age, but as a human, she was way shorter than him.
Once she was there, helping Ranboo stay on the right path, everything was much easier, but it didn't stop him from spacing out a few times. Whenever he did, all he could think of was the night before, and how Tubbos' short frame looked in his oversized bed, all curled up under the covers, hair splayed out around his head like a halo, and there he was again, mind wandering. Ranboo brought his attention back to reality and focused on the stack of cards on the table in front of him. Each one was a decorated card, invitations that Ranboo was to fill out by hand, and next to the pile was a small journal, containing names and information about guests that the prince was supposed to pick on his own. King Raskos usually let Ranboo pick the guests for any major event that focused on the prince, which is why he wasn't fazed by this at all, he'd been doing it for years. As he flipped through the journal of names, he began crossing some out, some he'd rather not go into detail about. The woman from earlier was helping fill them out as Ranboo read the names, the message for each card saying the same message: We invite you to share our joy as Prince Ranboo of the Tusian Kingdom officially announces his engagement to Princess Ember of the Fallion Empire.
