*Here is another Chapter! Even if there is only 1 person reading, it really makes my day to see that he/she takes their own time to look at my story. This means A LOT. Sorry the update took so long. This will happen sometimes. Thank You and Enjoy!*
Crow and Gray decided to sign up for positions with the rebels. Gray took a job in the Helm field and Crow took one in the medical field. Luckily, they were assigned to the same cargo ship.
Gray was fascinated when he began helm training. He took intensive notes and asked questions if he was confused. His IQ has been very high since he was little. By the time he was four, he could write paragraphs.
Gray could not help but think about his dark childhood.
-----------------------
Gray was born 6 years after his older brother; Hayden. His parents were very wealthy and they lived in a desired remote planet in the main quadrant. He was a special little kid. He learned how to read before he could walk.
Hayden was always jealous of Gray because he seemed more intelligent and exciting than him.
One day, Gray went up to Hayden and begged him to read "The Odyssey" out loud. He thought it would be nice to spend some quality time with his brother. But the older arrogant person pushed him away and said,
"Read it yourself, dweeb. A better narrative voice is one that is silent."
Then Hayden aggressively punched him to the ground and a couple of teeth were knocked out. And he just left him there. Gray never wanted to spend time with him after that. He learned his lesson to leave him be.
It took many years for him to grow back a presentable set of teeth. In 5th grade, he was made fun for being the only one without front teeth. Even the teachers found it amusing.
Finally, Gray proved himself to the superintendent of all schools when he typed a 27 paged essay with size 8 font reflecting the previous school year. It was so good that his family had to go to court. They debated on Gray's next grade-level.
Therefore, Gray was to be put in the 12th grade next year. All summer he studied the ACT and SAT testing. Hayden was mortified when he found out that his 11 year old brother would be in the same class as him. He bullied Gray a lot.
He endured the harsh treatment until a day in a cold November. Gray has gotten really sick with the flu and it did not go away since 3 months when it started. His skin got paler and dark bags started to form from under his eyes. He also lost 50 pounds and was very skinny.
Hayden was giving him a rough time by his locker. He was yelling at him and making fun of his short height. Gray's nervous system could not take it anymore and he collapsed onto the ground right in front of him. Hayden was about to laugh at him but a tear drizzled out of Gray's eye. Hayden shrugged and offered a hand to help him,
"Come on, get up dweeb. Come on..."
Gray took his hand and tried to get up but he had a dizzy spell and crashed back to the ground. The lights were knocked out of him. Hayden rushed him to the hospital. The doctors declared that Gray had a disease where his body exterior would not keep up with his bone growth. He only had a minor case so he was put in his bed and recovered for a couple months.
During his recovery, Hayden felt bad for Gray and wanted to read to him. However, Gray frowned and mumbled,
" A better narrative voice is one that is silent...dweeb."
Hayden died two days later from being intoxicated in a car accident. Even to this day, Gray mourns his death. He knew it was his own fault.
Gray recovered soon enough and excelled 12th grade at age 12. He also got a full scholarship to planet 'Therica'. In the Anaxar community, they recently had a war with the Romulans. Since he was one, he had to be checked for any suspicious weapons.
Gray double-majored in Chemical Engineering and Politics and minored in Macro Economics. With the great experience, he ran for Vice President and won with unanimous votes.
Gray liked Crow; he reminded him of the good side of his fallen brother.
------------------------------------
Crow sighed as he began his first class of Medical Treatment. The instructor was an ugly Borg that liked to spit everywhere. He was wearing a black leather jacket that was curled up so his hairy robotic stomach was exposed. His pink shorts contained eons of pockets that were empty.
The first hour went smoothly for Crow. He preformed CPR on a manikin perfectly and cleaned the hospital beds to an exceptional level. Even the emergency exit navigation he mastered; he just had to follow all of the red exit signs.
But then he was walked in a laboratory. He knew of the familiar details that were part of his previous work station on planet Therica. The interior was made of a rich white marble while the exterior appeared to be an old sailors cargo. In a glass freezer, there was sealed samples of Uranium, Plutonium, Polonium, and Oxygen.
Luckily, the Borg only showed him this because he was new on the ship. Crow got the tour because he did very well on the first medical inspection.
Crow was dismissed to his own cabin which was right next to Gray's cabin. He examined the older technology. Instead of the gold walls, there was the knotted pine background. He kind of liked it.
He brushed his teeth and looked at his reflection in the mirror. His face formed into a scorn of disgust The head bandages were slipping off and the wound looked infected. He reapplied the bandages and slowly dragged to bed. Crow was immediately out because of the loose connection of his brain.
...
Crow screamed after having another nightmare. He was starting to see things like ghosts of the citizens that he destroyed. He mumbled while sobbing,
"Innocent little madchen...why did you have to go?"
He turned over to fall asleep again but found a warm hand catching him. It was Gray. Gray picked Crow up and put him back in the bed.
"Gray? What are you doing here?"
"You were screaming a lot and I could not sleep. I came in to check what going on but you were mumbling foreign words. I was about to leave but you almost fell out the bed and I had to catch you."
"Um...sorry about that...thanks..."
Gray stood by him until he was fast asleep. Then he laid on the floor next to the bed containing Crow.
Gray did not know why he stayed at Crow's cabin that night. He guessed it was a feeling of peaceful security.
