I wake up for my 9am classes. I think to myself, remind myself that spring break is right around the corner as I pull myself out of the comfort of my blankets. "Ah, they really need to turn the heat off in these dorms. Winter is over and I'm about to die of a heat stroke." 

I look over at my roommate, Athen. He's been my friend since for as long as I could remember. We didn't have any classes together but we did leave at the same time. He always had this habit of over sleeping and that's because he would stay up all night playing games.

I threw my pillow at him from across the room hoping that he would wake up but instead he just grabbed it and rolled over. I rolled my eyes and walked over pulling the blanket off of him. "Wake up, we have class."

He groaned and slowly sat up while I went into the bathroom to get ready for my day. I started brushing my teeth when he walked into me hugging my side. I pushed him off and spitted in the sink. "Miles, it's so early. Can't we just skip." he asked while trying to rub the sleep out of his face.

"No, and we don't even have classes together so I can't save you like I used to in high school and take notes for you." I walked out the bathroom so he could get ready. Athen had perfectly chocolate colored skin with black colored eyes. All the girls would swoon for him and if I am being honest he is good looking.

I checked the weather to see whether it was going to be nice outside. To my luck it was going to be in the 70s. "its going to be nice and sunny outside today. No hoodie." I yelled at Athen as he walked out. He nodded his head before I turned around searching my dresser for some shorts and a t-shirt to wear. I threw on some socks and vans and waited for Athen to finish getting dressed. We grabbed our keys and walked out locking the doors with our backpacks on our shoulders.

"Almost done. Almost done and then we can go home for spring break." I said as we walked towards the campus buildings. We lived on campus since off campus living is a bit expensive but next year for sure we will have our own little apartment together.

"Yes, finally. I'm so tired of these classes already. My chemistry teacher grades so hard for no reason. She even marked answers wrong even though my units were correct. She changed my kilograms to grams when the question asked for kilograms. Dumb bitch."

I smacked his shoulder and scolded him. "I'm just saying. Maybe she should read what the problem is asking for before marking stuff wrong on my paper." We walked into the building and it was only 10 mins until our classes started.

As we walked through the halls all I could hear was the girls gossiping about whatever they had to gossip about. Some were even staring at Athen and I as we walked by.

"Athen is so hot. His dark skin looks so yummy." said one girl as we walked by. "You like Athen? Nah Miles is where it is at. He looks so cute and all." I rolled my eyes hearing the other girl compliment me.

"AHH! He looked at me." I looked up, since Athen was taller than me by a couple of inches, and see him winking and smirking at the two girls. I shoved his shoulder when I reach my English class. "You're a hot mess."

"I know. I'm hot as hell Miles and these girls know it as well." I rolled my eyes so hard it felt like they might fall out of my head. I waved him off as I walked into my classroom. While I was walking in, I bumped into a guy's chest as he was walking out, making me drop my iPad on his feet.

"I'm so sorry." I tell him bending over to pick up my iPad. Unfortunately, he also bent over and we bumped heads with each other. I was still bent over holding my head where we hit each other while I heard a chuckle from above me.

"Sorry about that." He said as I stood up as I was still holding my head. "No you're fine, I should have been looking." I told him letting out a small laugh. He holds out my iPad waiting for me to take it. I grabbed it and walked by him bidding him a good day.

I sat down in my usual seat which was in the back of the classroom. I unlocked my device opening the drawing app even though I can not draw to save my life.

I heard other students walking in and continued to work on my scribbling. My friend that I met while I was here, Amaya, sat next to me. "Miles, did you read the book?"

Our teacher assigned us a book to read and each class we would discuss the chapters. "No, the book is so uninteresting that I can't even open it to read the first page. Plus, the teacher doesn't even know whether we read or not. He's so easy to get off topic."

I looked up from my drawings to face her as her kinky, curly hair sat on top of her head. She was dark skinned and very pretty. She did not really have her hair twisted up or pulled back. She said it was too much work to do but she would never try and change her hair by perming it or anything.

"You right about that." We nodded at each other as she pulled out her airpods putting one in her ear as the teacher walked in.

After class was over, I walked out seeing Athen standing across the way with his back against the walls looking down at his phone. I walked up and just stared at him until he noticed me. When he looked up he jumped, I guess not expecting me to be there. I laughed and we walked away.

We waked to the on campus Starbucks so I could get some caffeine. "English is so boring. I could literally learn how to draw just by sitting in that class."

"But you can't draw. I've seen kids draw better than you. Some how your circles have sides, and circles are completely round."

"Iced caramel macchiato." I thanked the lady that made my drink and walked away. "You know, you used to be so nice to me. Now you're just a bully."

We laughed as we walked back outside to walk down the stairs. We head towards the library because we would always sit in one of the rooms and do work. Well Athen would do work that he never did the night before and I just sat there reading books on my phone unless I had work due for classes.

"Chemistry will be the death of me. And the labs last for forever and half years." He complained while pulling up a video that demonstrated the lab that he would be doing today. I laughed and went back to reading my book. It was very peaceful in the room and the environment provided for us to be effective in doing work and catching up on my stories.

WAAAAA! the first chapter and they already bumping into each other but that's ok. No need to worry, they won't meet each other until later on the story. we'd figure it be good for yall to get to know the characters a bit more and develop the story before they meet meet each other.
