the sirens blare through our house to wake everyone up. hearing them everyday gets quite nauseating. i change into my school clothes, which consists of a skirt past my knees, and a long blouse, with no buttons, because you can unbutton them if you are a boy which is easy access to sex.

the siren for school goes off and my siblings and I make our way down the gravel driveway. as we walk into our school building i see Thomas running up to me. he's wearing his necklace and mine starts to get heated.

"thomas! hey!" i smile awkwardly.
"hey. how was your evening?"
"it was good, same as usual." i say with a little nervous laugh.
gosh hes so cute
"yep." he says looking around, almost disturbed.
"are you alright?"
"yea, yea i'm fine. its just," he stops, and its because he knows they're listening.
"its okay, you dont have to tell me."
he looks into my eyes and all i see are big beautiful chocolate drops.
"they know i found my match, i dont know how, they just know everything, BECAUSE NOTHING IS PRIVATE IN THIS STUPID COMMUNITY!" he screams, a side you never see of anyone.
there is no pain
no sadness
no anger
just neutral
and happy.

"thomas," i start looking terrified. "who is it? are you going to get wed? are you going to run?"
the siren for class goes off and we hurry to our fourteenth room.
