Beach episode but with a twist

IT SAYS CASPER BUT HE GOES BY GRAYSON NOW JUST IGNORE THATenjoy
(sims pov)
the seashore is quite far from where atticus and i live, meaning trips to the beach don't happen as frequently as we'd like. ash only got his car a few months ago, and while we do want to take it to the beach- we'd make it a day and half off schedule. a train was our best bet.
the air b&b destination is somewhere we've been to a few times already. the lady who owns the house is a very nice woman, probably around her late 40s with a few kids. while we don't see her much, when she comes out into the kitchen i notice her long glances at atticus. of course my husband is not an oblivious idiot- he knows miss carla is looking at him but he makes no effort to avert his eyes away from his book. perhaps she's seeing if he's a worthy husband, (unlike hers, who divorced her.) regardless i find it weird that she peeks at him so much, but i dare not say anything about it unless it becomes an issue. other than that, our trip to the south beach in aeston has been nothing but lovely. the last two days were filled with memories i know will stay with me forever, one including casper conning atticus into buying us surfboards. it wasn't until then when i found out how much surfboards cost- but luckily ash covered it. walking with 4 surfboards back to the beach from the little town was actually pretty difficult. even though it was casper's idea- he made atticus carry theirs despite atticus already carrying his own and mine. ash on the hand was racing down the road carrying his bright blue surfboard above his head. casper chasing him down only to jump on the board when ash threw it at the water. casper didn't get far, he slid and fell head first into the murky shore waves.when atticus and i finally caught up with them, the two were using it as a paddle board, each laying on one end and trying to paddle themselves out to sea. i watched as atticus lifted his shirt over his head and waded out into the water. i really thought he was going to flip their board upside down but instead he looked like a caring dad, pushing his kids around on the board as they sat atop of it. the sun was slowly setting, painting the sky shades of pink and orange. i sat in the warm sand in front of the ocean, pulling my camera out and capturing this beautiful moment.
"babe! come and join us!" atticus waved his hand in the air, signaling for me to come and have fun with them.~
today is our last day, it's hot and there are no clouds as we relax on the beach. our only source if shade was a beach umbrella and it wasn't even at the right angle despite how many times atticus got up to try and fit it. i was laying on his chest as he napped, watching casper and ash make sandcastles with random kids. i found it endearing seeing them go back and forth to the water with buckets, just to keep the moat of their castle filled. it kept absorbing into the sand and caved in underneath the castle, swallowing it whole. with a new smashed bucket and tons of rage, they moved on from that one and started a new castle- this time with even more random kids. in all honesty, i felt like a mother in this moment. just like how yesterday i'm sure atticus felt like a father. he definitely looked like one. not to say ash and casper are childish in a bad sense, it's more of a lovable quality. atticus and i aren't much older than them, it doesn't exactly make sense to look at them like they're kids. sometimes i wish atticus and i could have our own kids, but as fate would have it, we can't. ash and casper fill that void in a way. it's actually not really a void, more like a wish or desire. there is no hole in atticus and i's hearts for not having kids, because the family we have now is more than we could ever ask for. i was snapped out of my thoughts when i saw ash running straight for us, diving straight at my backpack. he fumbled with the zipper and his face was beat red. before i could figure out or ask him what was going on, he pulled out his inhaler and took a big breath into it.
"heheha, sorry-" he giggled while panting, "casper f-HAHA- SORRY- casper fell into a HOLE AHAHA" ash managed to say and started wheezing and cackling again. i look over to where casper should have been but all i saw were kids crowded around in a circle. ash ran back and knelt down, a hand popped out of the hole, aggressively slapping around to grab hold of his. ash pulled casper out- their hair was covered in sand and one of his shoes was in his hand. i presume that's why casper fell in in the first place- to grab their sandal.
atticus woke up beside me and screwed his eyes shut against the sun. he checked his watch and yawned.
"what happened?" he says tiredly, looking at casper chasing ash around and beating him with the sandal.
"casper fell into a pit."
the corners of atticus' mouth upturned and he closed his eyes again. "'course he did,"
"look at our kids. having so much fun," i smiled.
"mhm, so cute.. wait what?"
"i said look at our friends having so much fun."
"oh.. coulda sworn you said "kids"."
"imagine th-"
"GUYS!" ash interrupted, diving behind atticus to hide.
"asher, i don't think casper is actually gonna hurt you that bad," atticus grunted, trying to turn to see ash quivering.
"it's not about casper! it's her!" he pointed a finger to the distance. there was a few other people at the beach so i had no idea who he was pointing to. i squinted and looked right where his finger was directed. a girl with long blonde hair and a sun hat stood around with a group of guys. she seemed normal enough to me.
"do you know her or something?" atticus asked.
"that's natalia!"
"wait," i racked my brain for any information on ash knowing a girl by the name of natalia. that's when it hit me, she was ash's highschool sweetheart. they were together for almost 3 years in highschool- his second longest relationship after kate. he was deeply in love with her and planned to marry her the moment they were out of college. that is, until she cheated on him.
"fuck she's coming over here, hide me atticus."
"who's that girl and why is she walking up to us?" casper whispered to me as they sat down. he must've not seen ash's frantic escape. before i could explain to casper that it's natalia, she was already standing in front of us.
"is that you, asher?" she says, putting her hand above her eyes and looking over my husband.
"no!"
atticus layed back down and decided to continue his nap, leaving ash exposed.
"hey, nat... long time no see." ash waved awkwardly.
"i knew it was you!" she paused and looked down and smiled. "hey um, would you care to join me and the guys?" natalia mentioned to the group of men watching from afar.
"um.. i'm not sure." ash looked at casper and i. i shrugged while casper remained cold-faced.
"i guess s- hold on.. is that don?"
don is the man natalia cheated on ash with. he was a grade below them.
"no but some of the guys from our year are here, wanna come say hi?"
"no, actually. i'm good."
"oh.. okay, well. see you around!"
"bye nat."
with that she retreated back to her squad of brooding men. they looked to be a mix of young guys and others halfway through their 30s. i don't even want to imagine what their intentions are by hanging around this girl in her 20s. regardless, this is the first time i've ever actually seen natalia. ash always told me she was pretty but i didn't expect her to look as gorgeous as she did. he's always had a thing for blondes..
speaking of which, casper was no longer sitting with us. they had gotten up and went back to the now crumbling, sad sand castle.
"i can't believe she's here," ash said, squinting against the sun. "she doesn't look any different, meanwhile i've changed quite a bit."
"i'd say for the better- you had a terrible buzz cut in your graduation photos." atticus said underneath the magazine that was covering his eyes for his nap.
"yeah! you look much more handsome than then, im sure that's why she came over here."
"or maybe she came over here and then realized it was me. what if she was just trying to snag another hot guy."
come to think of it, she came over here pretty confidently, and it all sunk after she probably realized it was her ex boyfriend.
"you give yourself too much credit," atticus mumbled. i nodded my head in agreement.
"don't worry guys. i've gotten over that part of my life," he paused for a moment. "besides, it was a long time ago. if it were kate though.. i don't know what i would've done." ash sighed and laid down beside us.
