SCREEEEEECH....... CRASH!!!!!

This was the moment that changed a small girl's life forever.

-------

A small girl wakes up in a cold bed and pushes the thin blanket( if you could even call it a blanket) off of her body. she gets out of the bunkbed quietly so as to not disturb the other children.

she exits the room and enters the empty hallway and looks at the clock to see the time, it is 6:30.

This excites her because when no one is awake she gets to read the newspaper but she has to be careful or the headmaster will beat her if she's caught.

She begins reading the newspaper at the kitchen table when she notices a title in bold saying "ARE YOU A GIFTED CHILD LOOKING FOR SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES?"

This surprised her because It was directed towards the child and not the parent. Both of her parents died in a car accident when she was 5, she was in the car with them but she survived miraculously.

Sometimes she wished that piece of glass that had cut her throat had killed her. That piece of glass created a scar on her throat and it cut her vocal cords so now she can't speak( well she's tried to speak but it's very quiet).

She gets bullied for it and she normally will get beaten if she doesn't respond when spoken to by an adult, so she gets beaten a lot but she's gotten used to it.

She began to hear someone walking down the hallway so she quickly put the newspaper back where she found it but she was just a second too late because she had checked to see where to go for the test for gifted children. This ended in the poor child getting a backhand on the face by the headmaster. The ring on his hand cut into her cheek causing it to bleed.

"You know you're not supposed to read that, You pathetic child. Now go and set up for breakfast. You're not allowed to tend to that wound until all your chores are done." He said with a scowl on his face as if talking to her was the most disgusting thing he could ever do.

"Yes sir, I'm sorry" she signed with a terrified look on her face.

----------

After she finished all of her chores she was finally able to clean the cut on her cheek which was already dried up.

Tomorrow she is going to go and take the test for gifted children. She didn't even care if it is an advanced academy or not, she just desperately need to get out of this orphanage.
