(Authors note) Thanks for being patient as we get to know Y/N. Next chapter she will be meeting some more characters. I will also not be shipping any of the original characters with each other.
Her heart leaped
Did she say Y/N!!!
She internally celebrated but soon she noticed the pencil lady had not said anyone else's name.
"That is all"
What?
"Dismissed"
There were many angry remarks from other children but they soon filed out of the room.
The girl stayed behind while slowly picking up her bag and placing it on her back. She wanted to ask the pencil lady a question.
Y/N walked up to the pencil lady who was checking the windows for some reason and signed "Do you know sign language?"
The pencil lady looked at her with a confused expression then said "yes, I do."
"I'm sorry to bother you miss but I do not own any pencils or erasers so I will not have to necessary supplies for the second phase."
The pencil lady thought for a moment and responded with "I will provide you with a pencil and eraser but if you will excuse me I must sneak out through the back door."
"Are you sneaking out because of the parents wanting answers to why so many children failed the test?"
The pencil lady hesitated to answer the girl's question. She was surprised by what this girl was able to put together from such little information. She was quite impressed.
"Yes, but may I ask how you came to that conclusion?"
The girl simply shrugged her shoulders and walked out of the room leaving the pencil lady with a puzzled look and several questions.
---------
Y/N had arrived in front of the monk building at precisely 12:45 to not be late for the second phase.
When it was almost time to go inside she saw this girl who had green hair and was wearing a very fluffy white dress. She had dropped her pencil in the drain and was staring down at it with a sad expression.
"I'm sorry you dropped your pencil but I don't have a pencil either and the pencil lady said I would receive one from her before the test so maybe she will have one for you as well." Y/N signed to the girl hoping she understood.
The cloud dress girl looked at her for a second but soon said "Thank you so much, I sure hope she will have another one. I'm Rhonda by the way and you are?"
"Y/N"
They started walking towards the building because the doors were unlocked finally and phase two would be starting soon.
"I should thank you"
"You really don't have to it's fine."
"No seriously, I have the answers and I could give them to you."
"No thank you, I don't like cheating."
Rhonda kept pestering Y/N until Y/N had had enough. She whipped her head around to face Rhonda and tried to yell "NO" at her but it just came out as a whisper.
Rhonda seemed taken aback by this sudden use of actual words and decided to stay quiet.
Once they walked into the building they were directed to a large room with lots of desks and other children already sitting at most of them.
Y/N walked up to the pencil lady. The pencil lady handed her a pencil and eraser without saying anything.
"There is another girl that lost her pencil. Could I get another pencil for her?"
The pencil lady looked at her and the girl she had indicated. She handed her another pencil and told her to sit down.
She handed the pencil to Rhonda and sat at the desk in front of her.
She noticed a sign at the front that read 'No talking. If you are caught talking it will be assumed you are cheating.'
Well that shouldn't be a problem
The pencil lady explained the rules but as she did Y/N noticed that she skipped the fourth step.
Y/N raised her hand
"Yes, Y/N?"
"What about the fourth step?" She signed causing her to get some weird looks.
"There is no fourth step. Any other question?"
The room was silent.
"To pass this test you must answer every question correctly"
Rhonda whispered "no problem"
Why didn't she just stay qu...
Then a realization occurred to her. Rhonda was part of the test to see if she would cheat. Hah, the person running this test must be smarter than she thought. Y/N grinned to herself.
The pencil woman began passing the test out
Some of the children began to look sick or just burst out crying. This made her nervous.
By the time the pencil lady put a test on her desk at least five children had run out of the room.
She looked down at the first question. It read 'The territories of the Naxcivan Autonomous Republic and the Nagorno-Karabakh region are disputed by what two countries?'
She had read a book about this once and remembered the answer.
She wrote her name at the top following directions.
She continued with the rest of the questions answering all of them with ease.
Once she was halfway through she noticed there was a pattern in the questions that gave her the answers for another question and vice versa.
She finished in about 20 minutes and stood up to take her test to the pencil lady.
Everyone around looked at her in wonder and shock as to how fast she got done with the test.
Even the pencil lady was surprised at how fast she finished.
She returned to her seat and waited until the time was up.
"Pencils! Time's up children. Lay down your pencils, please"
Everyone put their test on top of mine and went back to their seats with sad looks on their faces.
They waited until the pencil lady was done grading the tests.
"I shall now read the names of those who passed the test, If your name is called you will advance to the third stage of testing, so please remain seated and await further instructions. Those whose names are not called are free to go."
Third stage? Seriously
The pencil lady cleared her throat and said "Y/N, That is all"
