She woke up at about 6:00 this morning, got dressed in complete silence( a baggy long sleeve shirt with jeans), and snuck into the kitchen to get some breakfast to go. She had become extremely good at sneaking around in her time at the orphanage.
She then packed all of her belongings (which is not a lot) into a small backpack because she didn't trust the other kids at the orphanage and didn't know how long she would be gone today.
She began to walk down the street to where the first test would take place.
There were a lot of people standing outside the doors of the building in which she would take the test.
She went to stand in line behind a boy who was being read flashcards by his father. He seemed to be getting a lot correct so she thought she would play along with him in her head.
Long story short, she got all of the questions right. she was smarter than the average child. Actually, she was smarter than most people she met.
Every time she got the chance she would go down to the public library and read as many books as she could. She loved reading and she has probably read all of the books in the library except the mature books but she didn't mind.
Soon after the boy pitched a fit about getting an answer wrong they opened the doors to let children in.
They went into this large room with lots of desks so she chose one towards the middle back she sat down placing her bag next to her.
An odd-looking lady that looked an awful lot like a pencil came into the room. She wore all yellow clothes and had red hair. She handed out the test and so they began.
The first part of the test was strange but relatively easy.
The second part of the test was equally as strange but not relatively as easy to answer as it had some more personal questions on it.
The first question asked if she watched tv. She answered "No" because the children at the orphanage were not allowed to watch tv and if they were caught they would be punished with a beating.
The rest of the questions went on similarly, but one question really stumped her.
"Are you brave?"
Was she brave? No one had ever asked her that question before and she was kind of shocked by it.
She simply put "Maybe"
She didn't know if she was brave or not.
That was the last question so she laid her pencil down and waited for everyone else to finish. After a little while, the pencil lady shouted "Pencils!!" which cause her and a few others to jump slightly.
"Please lay down your pencils now, the test is over."
Some of the other children were complaining about not being able to finish the test on time.
"I'm sorry you haven't finished, children, but the test is over. Please pass your papers to the front of the room, and remain seated while the tests are being graded. Don't worry, it won't take long."
She passed her paper to the girl in front of her and waited patiently for the pencil lady to finish grading the papers while some of the other students chatted.
She was starting to get nervous when some of the other children started talking about how easy the test was. It's not like she had a difficult time answering the questions but It just made her uneasy how cocky they were.
Then the pencil lady spoke. "I shall now read the names of children admitted into the second phase of the test."
second phase?
"If your name is called, you are to report to the Monk Building on Third street no later than one o'clock, where you will join children from other sessions who also passed the test."
She also mentioned that they were to bring one pencil, and an eraser or they would be disqualified. This posed a problem as to the fact that she didn't own any pencils or erasers.
"Very well if there are no questions, I shall read the list."
Oh dear
"Y/N.... oh it appears there is no last name on this paper. Y/N"
