The bird's chirping echoed through the forest, and I was surprised that I could hear it. Cora and I were close to the side of the road, a good two hundred and fifty feet from the trees. Sometimes, I forgot how enhanced my senses were. I yawned and opened my eyes. Looking at the sun, I guessed that it was around ten o'clock in the morning. The finch chirped again, and I heard another one answer its call. I suddenly remembered that Cora and I were still on the hood/windshield of the Camaro. Her head was still resting on my shoulder. I yawned again, and heard her take a deep breath.

"Time to go....already?" Cora asked dreamily.

"Unfortunately. I'll drive. You can sleep on the way if you want." I replied. The memories of last night jumped into my thoughts. It wasn't every day that I told a girl I loved her. But when I had told Cora, it had felt kind of right. And kind of wonderful. Cora lifted her head and flipped the dark brown hair away from her face before her brown eyes focused on me. She has this way of making me feel like she can read my thoughts if she stares at me long enough. But the smile that crossed her face next made the sun feel a little bit warmer.

"What?" I asked her with a smile of my own.

"You told me you loved me." Cora responded.

"This is true." I said with a nod, rubbing her back between her shoulders again. Our legs were all twisted up, but I was okay with that.

"Did you mean it?" she asked me seriously. I smirked, and looked up at the sky. Cora's eyes had turned bright yellow, her fangs had grown in, and I could feel her claws starting to dig into my hand and my back. "What are you smiling for?" she growled. I looked back down at her, and then replied.

"Cora, I'm not laughing because it was a joke to me." Her fangs disappeared, and I felt her claws ease out of my skin. Her yellow eyes still bored into me, so I blinked and let mine change as well.

"Then why are you smiling?" she said with clenched teeth.

"Because I get to tell you again.....and it feels so good." I pulled my hand away from hers, and brushed a loose strand of hair away from one of her eyes. "Cora, I love you." My hand slipped away from her face, and gently pulled her head in closer. Her lips moved against mine, and she was kissing me softly, but I could sense some kind of desire coming from her. She edged up the hood, and pushed herself onto my chest. I felt some air leave my lungs, but it didn't matter. All that mattered was me, kissing Cora. My other hand was resting on her waist, and I felt the heat that she was giving off. There was no doubt about it this time. Her hands were flat against the hood, and our mouths were still as tied up as our legs. It was like we were in this cocoon of fire, floating in the air and making out at the same time. All I could I hear was the sound of us breathing heavily (and my heart thundering in my ears). And then it was over. We pulled apart, and I saw my reflection in her eyes. She pulled my hands away from the back of her head and her waist, and wove my fingers through hers.

"Did you mean it?" I asked her. We were so close that I felt our hearts practically beating against each other. She leaned in close enough that I could feel the air coming from her nose, and I felt her palms touching mine.

"What do you think?" She whispered in that voice that kickstarted my heart. Before I could answer, her mouth had pounced onto mine. This was different. Yes, we've kissed before.....a lot. But it wasn't like any of those other times.Kissing her was electrifying every cell in my body. As we were kissing, for a second, my brain came back to life. I wondered when I had begun loving Cora so, so fiercely. This wasn't like before. It was this really profound love that flowed through me like a river. She finally pulled away, and I remembered that she had asked me a question.

"I think that....I need you. And that you need me just as much. Right?" I asked quietly. She nodded, and I started to get that "Good Feeling" again. It took root deep inside my guts, and was there to stay. "But I also think that we need to go to Chris's cabin." Cora laughed, and then we untangled ourselves and climbed off the hood. I walked over to the driver's door, pulled it open, and sat down on the black leather seat. It was only half warm though. I guess that Cora and I had been blocking the sun. Anyway, she handed me the keys, and I slid them into the ignition. Before I turned it, I pulled on my seat belt. Cora gave me a look that said "Are you serious?"

"What? It's illegal to drive without one." I said. She huffed and pulled hers on as well. I turned the key, and the V6 engine roared to life.

"There's a sound that I'll never get tired of." I said, looking over at Cora. She just rolled her eyes, but I saw her smiling reflection on the inside of the window. A smile showed up on my face as I shifted the Camaro into drive, and then I put my heel to the steel.
