To be a surgeon, you have to act like a surgeon. So sitting in Joe's bar next to a drunk Meredith doesn't feel right. She dragged me here though after she realized that I had heard the convo between Derek, the redhead, and her.
"Mer I think you had enough for tonight. Let's go home, shall we?" I ask her very concerned but she orders another round of shots for us and drinks both herself like she has been the whole time.
We turn around when we hear people cheering for George. He seems embarrassed but Christina seems to love it. She giggles sitting down next to us and George orders a beer.
"Let's play a game of whose life sucks the most. I win, I always win." Mer mumbles. I just roll my eyes and let her be the main character for a moment.
"Oh, you don't want to play against me," C says, not looking at us.
"Oh, I do. I'll even go first. Derek is married." Mer reveals. At that, beer squirts out of George's nose, onto the bar. We look at him until he gets up on his own and makes his way to the bathroom.
"See I told you I'd win," Mer says watching Joe clean up the mess George made.
"Oh no you didn't...," Cristina reassures and takes a breath," I'm pregnant." I turn to look at Meredith who looks equally as shocked as I. The only difference is that I know who the baby daddy is and she doesn't. I'll keep my mouth shut though.
We don't have much time to be shocked cause right as Mer opens her mouth to ask THE question Joe faints behind us and lands on the floor with a big bang. Immediately Cristina kneels next to him and I take out my phone to call 911.
He wakes up soon after but just to be safe we take him to the hospital anyway. Once there, Meredith won't stop asking C about the baby's father. But when Derek walks in to present Joe's case she shuts right up. Izzie now knows about the McMarried thing too so together we stare at him with angry eyes.
"So he'll need a standstill operation." That's all it takes for us to soften our glare. Cristina stands upright and Iz bumps her to not be so excited. He hands Mer the charts but she rejects them.
"I'm drunk," she explains shortly and leaves. I take the charts instead of her and start looking through them taking a step forward to block Derek from following her. The girls and George follow my lead by blocking him too.
"McBastard." Cristina whispers and Iz takes a sip of her coffee.
_
I stay home a little longer the next day. I have gone up to Meredith's door about twelve times now without knocking. This time. No. Ok now. No. I knock. No response. Carefully I open the door just a little bit and tilt my head to the side to see where she is.
She is laying on the very edge of her bed. Looks like she got ready but decided to lay back down again. I open the door more and step into her room without saying anything. Slowly I make my way up to her bed and crawl under the covers behind her. I scootch closer to her and wrap my arm around her waist in a spooning kind of way.
I've always been very affectioned with people. Touch is my love language. And I always feel like it helps with feeling better. So even though I only love Mer as a friend and roommate, and I know George would kill me if he saw this I still try my method. And to my surprise, it works.
About fifteen minutes later Mer is ready to get up and leave for another shift at the hospital. We didn't need to talk. Not even in the car. I think this will make for another beautiful friendship.
"Ok people, assignments. Yang you're on discharges, O'Malley, Mazing report to room E19, Karev and Stevens your work last night was sloppy redo these and give them to me by lunchtime. Grey come talk to me. There has been a special request for you." Bailey enters the room with the same attitude as every morning and we scatter.
