The police had asked Schlatt a few questions about the whole murder situation since he had served the lady, but luckily they seemed to believe that he had no part in it all. He really didn’t, and was honestly shaken up about the whole thing. It was the second time he was caught up in some weird murder scandal, and he was definitely not happy about it. Unfortunately he still had to go into work, since the cafe was pretty understaffed.
It was a pretty calm day luckily, since not many people wanted to go out with the whole murderer on the lose. There was a group of girls, looking to be in their mid-twenties, but they were really the only customers in the place. They had ordered some of the most complicated drinks there, which definitely pissed Schlatt off but he kept his mouth shut. At least they weren’t complaining about the time, and their drinks were meant to be cold so having to keep them warm wasn’t a problem.
He kept seeing them staring at him, and he had to stop himself from rolling his eyes. Schlatt knew he could be pretty dense, but even he could tell that the girls found him a little attractive. Too bad for them, he had a boyfriend and was definitely not interested in girls. He finished the second-to-last drink and placed it down, when he heard someone come up to the counter behind him. He placed the finished drink down and turned to look, seeing one of the women at the desk.
“Hey there, I was wondering if I could maybe get your number?” The girl asked with a wink, twirling a strand of hair with her finger. Schlatt internally groaned, not wanting to deal with this today of all days.
“Sorry, but I’m already in a relationship.” He said, putting on his best fake smile. Working at the cafe had really forced him to practice, since a lot of people weren’t very nice in the morning without caffeine. He couldn’t necessarily blame them, but he still wanted to flip them off.
“Well, she doesn’t have to know. Right, cutie?” She said in a flirtatious tone, which might work on other guys but just made Schlatt want to gag. He really hated these types of people, but had to be nice for his job’s sake. Schlatt opened his mouth, when the door to the back opened.
“Hello Princess, sorry it took so long to get back. The line was pretty long today.” Wilbur said, walking up to Schlatt. The taller had left to go get the two of them lunch from a fast food place nearby since his shift didn’t start until later. Schlat’s smile turned genuine, the nickname making his cheeks burn.
“I got us milkshakes too, since they had a two-for-one on them.” Wilbur said, before grabbing Schlatt’s face to pull him close so he could kiss his cheek. Schlatt was slightly confused, since the Brit wasn’t usually this affectionate in front of customers. Looking over at the girl’s face, he was glad Wilbur was today.
“I just gotta finish these orders and then I can take my lunch break.” Schlatt told him, the Brit nodding in response. When he turned his back, he heard Wilbur leave to the back and the girl walk away, causing him to smile and bite his tongue to hold back a laugh.
He finished the orders, and called out the girl’s names. He gave them their drinks, seeing the girls glance behind him at the door to the back. It was odd, but Schlatt brushed it off since he didn’t really care. He walked into the back, hearing his coworker Minx groaned as she realized she had to get off break now. Schlatt laughed at her, going over to where Wilbur sat so the two could eat.
Maybe the murder was just some random one off thing. The lady wasn’t really all that nice anyways, so Schlatt couldn’t help but think that she had it coming. She probably pissed off the wrong person, and that was that. The police would find the killer soon enough, and everything would be fine.

Schlatt couldn’t breathe. He had turned on his TV for the morning, happy to have a day off, only to see another murder. This time of four people, the four women he had served just yesterday. The most gruesome of the group he barely managed to recognize as the girl who asked for his number.
He wanted to puke as the anchor described the scene and the wounds. All of the girls’ eyes were gouged out, and it reminded Schlatt of another incident. It was like f***ing high school all over again! His breath and heartbeat picked up, a million thoughts rushing through his head. He hated it, absolutely hated all of it.
