10th Inning

34 2 1

I don't know why, but with this extra inning, everyone seems to have shifted their mood.

Not that anyone is angry or pissed off.

More like we've all been shot with adrenaline and ready to prove who the better team is, ready to put up the fight we know is going to happen.

No worries. It's all still about having fun.

    We just refuse to lose.

We're all staring each other down as Tony and Steve approach the pitchers mound.

"You ready, Capsicle?" Tony asks snidely.

"Like I've been waiting my whole life for it." Steve answers.

"Well, then you've been waiting your whole life to be disappointed."

"Oh please, Tony. You're just worried you're going to lose."

"I'm not worried there, Cap. I know and trust my team. But based off the sweat on your forehead, I'd say you're a little worried you night have to do laundry for the next month," Tony points out with a smirk.

    "I trust my team."

"Whatever you say. Let's just get this game on the road, shall we? I have a pile of laundry already waiting for you back home and I'm getting hungry." Tony says placing an arm on Steve's shoulder that Steve shrugs off almost immediately.

Steve then turns around without another word and heads back to their dugout.

Tony was trying to get under Steve's skin, and it definitely worked.

"I don't really see why we had to do that whole dramatic scene on the mound. I kind of feel like they're filming this for a movie without all of us knowing," Spencer says as we watch Clint warm up.

"I seriously hope not," I say in answer.

She pauses, stopping her arm before she grabs her bat and helmet, "why?"

"Because I know Tony. And he'd make sure to get every angle."

She still looks at me weird.

"Every. Angle. Inside the field, and out."

I watch as the realization hits her, her eyes widening as she remembers what we did and what it would mean if Tony was recording.

Before we can continue this conversation, Clint motions that he's ready to start.

Vision walks out first as he is first up followed by Spencer as she warms up for her turn.

I can't tell you really what happened between Vision and Clint.

In my defense Spencer was stretching RIGHT THERE. And with the reminder of what we did a few innings prior running through my mind.. you really couldn't blame me.

However, I can guess that Vision struck out because Clint was looking pretty smug as he walked back to the dugout.

    Great. One out already.

Spencer had already walked over to the batters box and stepped in.

Her moving from her spot where she warmed up is what snapped me out of my day dream in the first place. I noticed Vision as she walked by him.

There's no pressure, but there's pressure.

If she gets on base, we have a good shot. If she gets out, then we only have one left to go.
