It was the official opening of my vet clinic, and I couldn't have been more excited. I quickly sped to our shared room and got dressed in scrubs, sneakers, make up, and hairstyle.

Once I finished up, I dashed downstairs and into the kitchen, where I found my best friend waiting for me. "Hey, Esme!" I called out, bubbling with excitement.
She looked up and smiled. "What's got you so worked up?"
Before I could answer, I felt strong arms wrap around me from behind, pulling me against a familiar chest. I glanced to the side and grinned—it was my handsome husband. "Looking incredibly sexy in those scrubs," he murmured, playfully nibbling on my ear.
I giggled and gently pushed him away. "As much as I love the attention, you need to get to work, and I have to head to the opening of my clinic."
He spun me around with a mischievous smile. "Do you want me to drive you?"
I shook my head, grinning. "Nope! I'm taking my baby today!" I leaned in and planted a kiss on his cheek before heading out.
As I made my way to the garage, I heard him tease, "I think she loves that car more than me," to which Esme laughed.
"I don't think that's it; she's just an independent woman," Esme replied with a wink, and that was the last thing I heard as I stepped into the garage.
There it was—my 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sport, a beautiful wedding gift from my husband. I hopped in, excitement coursing through me. It was time for a new adventure!
After a 30-minute drive, I finally arrived at the clinic, ready for a series of interviews with candidates for doctors, vet techs, and veterinary assistants. I unlocked the front door, stepped inside, and made my way to my desk, powering up my computer and settling into my chair.
One Hour Later
I had successfully wrapped up the interviews, hiring three doctors, four veterinary technicians, and two assistants. I informed them all to expect their first day tomorrow. Glancing at the clock, I noted it was around noon, so I locked up the office and decided to pay a surprise visit to my husband. I hopped into my car and made the swift 10-minute drive to Forks Hospital. Sometimes the name puzzled me, but I shrugged it off — no matter, I was excited to see him.
Arriving at the massive hospital, I parked as close to the main entrance as I could. Stepping out, I noticed several heads turning in my direction. I flashed a smirk, feeling a rush of confidence, and made my way inside, locking my car behind me. Approaching the nurse's station, I found one of the nurses preoccupied.
"Hello, ma'am! How can I assist you today?" she asked, her voice friendly.
"I'm hoping you could page Dr. Cullen for me," I replied, observing the beads of sweat on her forehead indicating her nervousness.
"Um, Dr. Cullen isn't in at the moment," piped up another nurse, her tone unfriendly.
I turned my attention to the second nurse, raising an eyebrow. "Oh, is that so?"
"Yeah, lady. Better move along unless you have an actual problem," she snapped.
Giving her a dirty look, I pulled out my phone, dialing Carlisle's number. The phone rang twice before he picked up.
"Hello, love. Is everything alright?" he asked, clearly concerned.
"Yes, everything is perfectly fine! I'm just here at your workplace to visit you," I replied, my excitement palpable.
"Oh, really? Hold on, just a sec," he said, disconnecting the call.
It was less than two minutes before I saw him stride through the entrance, exuding charisma in his white coat. He made his way to me, placing his hands on my hips while I wrapped my arms around his neck, feeling a rush of affection.
For a moment, we both forgot we were in a hospital. He leaned down, whispering in my ear, "Let's go to my office."
I nodded, heart racing. "Thanks, Janice," he said, flashing her his warm, trustworthy smile. He took my hand and led me away, but not before I cast a playful glance back at the rude nurse, smirking as we walked towards his office.
Once inside, the door clicked shut behind us, and in an instant, I found myself pressed against the wall. I giggled, feeling his arousal against me. "Someone's excited," I teased, tugging gently at his hair.
He growled lowly in response, leaning closer. "Can you blame me? My stunning wife looks like a delicious treat just waiting to be devoured. If we had more time, I would've taken you on that desk," he said with a smirk.
His words sent a thrill through me, stirring a deep desire. I pressed myself against him, creating delicious friction between us, lost in the moment, until his pager beeped loudly, drawing a groan from both of us.
"I despise that pager," he chuckled, pulling away reluctantly.
"I have to get back now, love. We'll pick this up at home," he said, his expression softening. I nodded, leaning in for a lingering kiss.
As I left the room, I felt a playful slap on my rear. I gasped, turning back to find him smirking, which made me giggle before I stepped out of his office. I walked past the nurse's station, where I caught sight of the unfriendly nurse still on duty. I couldn't help but smirk at her as I exited the building, heading to my car and making my way home, anticipation bubbling within me for what awaited later.
