I watched him leave through my window and heaved a heavy sigh before entering my room.

Flashback

"Yeah, hear me out," she called as she made her way inside my room and sat at the edge of the bed. "This guy is good. He doesn't smoke, drink, or have any bad addictions, and all he cares about is himself and his work. Why don't you talk with him?"

She explained while holding her phone and looking at the data of the guy that she might have found in some matrimonial group.

"Mom, if he just cares about him and his work, then how will he care for me and our family?"

"It will come as long as you stay with him," she said while putting on a tantrum like a child that was just so hilarious to watch. "He is even a year older than you, which means he is mature enough to handle stuff."

"See, look at his last month's bank statement." She said as she extended the bank statement right in front of my eyes, "I can't find him wasting money on this useless thing. He knows to manage his money well."

She has the bank statement too. Now, this doesn't look like the data you will find in a matrimonial group; the source is different.

Yup, my mom asks for a bank statement from every guy and brings out his history just by that.

As per my mom's theory,. How and where a guy spends his money and the way he handles the amount can show what he does and does not.

I mean, where's the lie?

Why will a guy rent a hotel room just for a night when he has his own house a few kilometers before the hotel? If he wants to rest, he can rest in his own house instead of in a hotel room, right?

Another example is a person spending their money on alcohol. If a person is having it every single day, then it's obvious that he is an addict, and no parent would like to marry their child to an alcoholic.

"What do you think about him?" My mom asked curiously, looking straight in my eye.

She looked like that small kid who was asking her mom how you and her father met.

"Mom, do you like him?"

"Like? I mean, he is better than all the guys we have seen And I think he can take care of my daughter well."

Well, definitely every parent wants their child to have a partner who can take care of their partner in all aspects.

"If you are okay with it,. I'll go for it. Mom," I gave her my answer, and her eyes lit up at my reply. Prbly even she was excited to see how this step we take in life will turn out. "When am I meeting him?"

Flashback end.

I didn't like the concept of going into a relationship with a stranger, but I did it for my mom. I liked him at our first meeting. He was kind of cool. He was not like my ideal type, but he wasn't bad either.

I agreed to the engagement because I didn't have any reason not to. But I think I should have thought this through.

"I think it would be better if we showed our true self to each other, as we are going to spend the rest of our life together."

"You asked me to be true to you when you were never."

Ring ring*

My phone vibrated in my hand I received the call
