Crimson blood dripped onto the cracked marble sink, mixing with soapy water as a burnscarred hand reached for the worn staplegun. Bringing the staplegun to his bloodstreaked face he paused.
He looked into the mirror as condensation dripped onto the countertop. Gazing into tired cerulean eyes that looked so much like his father, 'you look just like him you know.'
'Disappointment.'
'Waste of space.'
'Not good enough.'
Azure fire. Burning flesh. Crackling cracking flames. The pain, oh the pain! He shook his head, banishing the memory, but the smell lingered. It always lingered. Not important.
He brought the staplegun to the seam between his pale healthy skin and the wrinkled purple burnscar that took up the bottom part of his face in a grotesque smile from ear to ear.
The dulled silver metal of the staples holding his skin together glinted for a moment in the artificial light. He pressed the staplegun to his face, and tensing, pulled the trigger.
For a moment there was a prick of hot pain before it got smothered by the intimately familiar dull ache of old scars and new wounds. He dropped the staplegun onto the countertop and leaned forward, gazing into manic cerulean eyes.
A storm is coming.
Dabi smiled.
