A Walk On The Shore

You managed to fall asleep and woke up about an hour before the plane landed.

"Are you ready to go to the beach, Y/n?" Your dad asked.

"Of course! There's going to be soooo many fish.. and maybe-" you were cut off by your dad, "I know, I know. Sharks"

You smiled. Your dad didn't seem to mind your shark obsession and fully supported you wanting to be a scuba-diver.. or any job that involved the ocean really.

"Don't even think about it, Y/n! I won't let you so much as touch the water, it can make the animals scared if you bring home fish."

You could hardly believe what she said, your dad seemed to feel the same way but kept quiet.

You've been waiting years to finally explore a bit of the ocean and now those years seemed like a silly dream.

You were about to tell your mother how you felt but instead of words a sigh left your mouth and you stayed silent.

After you and your family finished unpacking their bags at the vacation house, you started getting ready to go to the beach.

You didn't care what your mother said, you would go in the ocean and hopefully find a shark.

"Hey, Y/N, I found salmon!" Your brother said grinning while holding up a fish.

"Do you want a cookie?" You replied about to get in the ocean.

"Not a cookie, but maybe a grill to cook this on"
You rolled your eyes at your brothers comment and jumped in the water.

There were a couple of fish but you knew you'd have to go farther to see more. You raised your head out of the water, "Hey, I'm gonna go farther to see some more fish!" You yelled towards your brother.

You got a simple nod in return. You started swimming farther into the ocean, you saw all sorts of colorful fish.

You came across a pufferfish too, you made sure to keep a safe distance and snapped a picture with the camera you brought.

Out of all the fish you saw, none of them were the one you were searching for. As determined as you were to find a shark you started loosing hope.

You even thought about cutting your leg/arm on something so a shark would come after you. You decided not to from fear of attracting unwanted species.

You rose up from the water for some air. You felt something rub against your foot. You dove under the water but didn't see anything.

You assumed it was just pressure from the water and rose back up.

"BOO!" You screamed as loud as you could.

You turned around and saw your brother laughing hysterically. "Not funny" you said in an angry tone.

"Well it seems quite funny to me!" Your brother replied in between breaths.

You couldn't stay mad at him, but you would definitely try. He was still laughing and his laugh eventually traveled it's way to you. Both you and your brother were laughing in the ocean.

Except all the laughing came to an end when your mother called from the shore. Both you and your brother knew it was close to time to leave.

You and your brother started swimming back to the shore where your mother was standing.
It was around 3PM so your mother probably had sandwiches made for you and your siblings.

As you reached the shore you looked back, you could've swore you saw a shark fin. You decided to blow it off as your imagination.

You went over to where the rest of your family was and sat down on the bench. Your mother glared at you before speaking

"I thought I told you not to go into the ocean" she said. You couldn't understand if she was mad or disappointed

You were about to speak when your dad interrupted, "I'm sure Y/N was just trying to hang out with their brother, right?"

You nodded your head in return and smiled at your mother, who looked like she was ready to lecture you and your father for hours. Thankfully she stayed silent

You finished eating as well as your family. Everyone started packing up getting ready to leave

You didn't give up hope on finding a shark, you knew you had time left to find one.

Everyone soon finished packing and were headed to the car

You couldn't help but be disappointed. You deeply wanted to find a shark

You hopped into the car and stared at the ocean. There were less people there than before, you hadn't noticed since you were in the water

You felt the car start to pull off and you rested your head against the door. You always had a habit of falling asleep during car rides
