Loid collapsed on the couch, letting out an exasperated sigh of relief and closing his eyes. His body ached, not only from being tired of helping Anya with her studies but from the mission he had taken on during the day. Single-handedly, Loid Forger had successfully stopped a terrorist attack in a public area earlier in the day.
"Now onto the progression of Operation Strix...How else can Anya earn merit stars without having to find success in assignments and exams..?"
"It seems like she finally fell asleep," Yor said almost whispering, interrupting her husband's thoughts. She wiped her forehead with a smile. Loid opened an eye, staring back at the smiling woman now sitting across from him in the living room, and thought to himself for a bit more.
This whole operation depended on keeping Yor as a pretend wife and getting Anya into Eden Academy as a pretend family in order to get closer to Donovan Desmond. To stop his plans of starting a war between the East and West as a spy was absolutely crucial for the sake of peace, not that his fake family knew about his true occupation.
"Thank you for all your help, Yor." Loid sat up, giving her a grateful smile. Yor perked up, and fidgeted in her seat, "I-I didn't help much today though...I'm sorry I wasn't much help when it came to Anya's studies. I myself wasn't all that good academically either..." The dark-haired woman gave an embarrassed giggle, her red eyes glimmering under the apartment lights. "That doesn't mean I'll stop trying to be the best wife I can be!" Loid chuckled, finding her optimism amusing, then he glanced over at Anya's room door and back at Yor.
"You've been a great wife from the start, Yor. You help around a lot more than you think, and I can't thank you enough for what you do for this family."
His voice was soothing to hear and was successfully able to reassure Yor. However, Yor noticed that whenever he used that tone and said such things as he had now, it made her feel a certain way she could explain. It made her feel more nervous and could feel her face warm up. "I-It's the least I can do for you..."
"R-Relax Yor-! This whole relationship isn't real! We both have our reasons for doing this," Yor fought with herself in her head to calm herself down. Ultimately, she decided to say out loud, "I-I'll make us some tea."
Despite the fact that Yor had agreed to be Loid Forger's pretend wife in order to reassure her brother, she grew to admire the man that Loid was. At first, it was nothing but a mutual and innocent agreement, however, it wasn't long before Yor's feelings blossomed for him. The only doubts she had was as to how he truly felt back.
"Actually, I was thinking if you maybe wanted to drink...just the two of us?" Loid blurted out suddenly. Yor stopped in her tracks and glanced back at him in surprise. This definitely caught her off guard. Despite the fact that he knew this relationship was fabricated purely for personal benefits, there was just something about Yor he couldn't quite put his finger on. He wasn't even someone who drank much, and if he did, Loid was pretty good at resisting its effects. Regardless, his motives felt strange.
"I'd love to join you, but Loid, don't you have to work tomorrow?" Yor asked, concerned. The spy stood up and walked to the kitchen alongside the assassin with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, I have a day off tomorrow. And since it's a Saturday tomorrow, maybe we could go out as a family. How does that sound?"
Yor opened the kitchen cabinets overhead, slipped a strand of hair behind her ear, and picked out two clean wine glasses. Her heart seemed to beat louder and louder, yet she tried her absolute best to ignore the sound. As for Loid, as he picked out the bottle of wine, he couldn't stop himself from sneaking in peeks at Yor's expressions as she reached for the cups.
"That sounds like a great idea," Yor responded as she set the glasses down at the table, Loid following behind her. The pair sat down after Loid had served her drink and his own.
