Ashley's POV:
I was kneeling by a man flat on the ground. He grabbed my shoulder and clutched a chunk of my hair. He sat up with his eyes closed. He opened them and I screamed. They were grey and red. Bloodshot and dead.
He pulled my neck towards his mouth. His teeth clamping together repeatedly. I cried and screamed. Pulling away as his nails dug into my skin through my sweater. Hoping Enid or someone would help me.
That's when tramples hit the cement ground. Echoes through the air. I closed my eyes as the feet stopped. Sticky drops landed on my head. Weight on top of me. The weight soon pulled off. Enid and her brothers there. All with their knives out. Jake pulled me up and we started to run to the house.
"What's going on?" I asked after the door slammed shut after Danny got in.
"The world is shit now." Emily said walking out with a bag.
"Language." Enid reminded.
"Piss off." She replied.Emily dropped the bag it hitting the floor with a thud. Enid and the boys dug through the bag. Weapons.
"No. We can't." I said.
"Yes we can. It's how we survive." Danny said loading a gun.
"What is even happening?" I asked looking at them.
"The apocalypse. It was coming and we're ready. Are you?" Jake asked.
"No."
"Get ready. We won't have a lot of time. Atlanta?" Emily insisted.Danny nodded but I disagreed. I looked at Enid as she put bullets in the gun. Emily tossed Enid and the others holsters and I got nothing besides a small knife.
"Let's just go. We can drive there and we won't have to worry. We'll be in Atlanta soon enough." I insisted to them.
"Or we walk and we survive like real people. Don't take the easy way. The gas would run out before we get a mile." Danny said pulling the bag over his shoulder.Enid and Emily pulled two backpacks on and filled up water bottles before the waterline shut off. I followed them out the door and we started to walk.
