Carl's POV:
Four sets of feet ran towards us. A girl with blonde hair fell next to the car I was under. I pulled her under holding her arms. She held her breath.
"Breathe." I said before the walkers limped past us.
The group was huge. It took a while until they all passed. We climbed out from the Carl and my dad held his gun to two boys.
The two girls went over to the boys standing in front of them.
"No!" They said.
"Dad no." I said stopping next to him.
"Carl please they're strangers."
"Ask them the questions." I said.He sighed and asked them. We had three questions we had to ask before we had them in our group. Each person was asked individually. I asked two and my dad asked the others.
"I'm Enid that's Emily." She said looking at her sister a few feet away.
"I'm Carl, now let's start."They nodded.
"How many walkers have you killed?"
"A dozen maybe I didn't count."
"How many people have you killed?" I asked next.
"One."
"Why?" I finally asked.
"She was my best friend and she got eaten alive. I didn't want her to turn." She said looking at the ground.
"Okay. I'll be back."I went o my dad after he was finished. I told
him what she said. He sighed and nodded. But he wanted to see if all of them were like that.I asked Emily the questions next after Enid. Emily has killed about ten walkers, no people, and I didn't ask her why.
I updated my dad and he said they were good but he wanted a vote when we get back. I nodded. We led them to the vehicles when we all were all about to head out. Emily, Jake, Danny, Enid, and I all sat in the trunk of the pickup truck my dad drove.
It was silent. The whistle of the wind and rustle of the trees. We could hear the wheels rolling against the road. Everyone's breath heating the dark Georgia air making smoke. The moonlight shining on our faces. I looked at Enid and she was looking at me. She turned her eyes away looking at the scene around us.
I curled my lips inward. The others were sound asleep. I slowly scoot over to Enid. I was right next to her. She shivered. I took my jacket off.
"No don't." She insisted.
"You're cold."
"I barely know you."
"So what I don't want you to freeze." I said.I slipped the jacked over her and zipped it. She looked away and I sighed.
"Thanks." Enid whispered. She paused a minute as I didn't reply. "Whats with the sigh?" She asked.
I bit my tongue and held my breath.
