He aims the arrow at the target that was painted on the tree, his eyes focused. his heart pounding, his confidence...debatable. He takes a deep breath and let's the arrow go. It hits the lowest part of the target, not what Charlie hoped for, but it's a start. He takes another arrow and places it on the bow, he holds onto it, he aims at the target.
"You're overthinking it." Said the voice.
"What?" Charlie asked.
"You're too focused on making the mark, when it should be where you hit it." Said Clint, walking towards him.
"Aren't you the guy who doesn't miss?" Said Charlie.
"Hey kid, come on, just trying to help." Said Clint. Who knew, one of the Avengers teaching Charlie how to use a weapon. "Okay, ready?"
"Yeah." He said, aiming at the target.
"Alright, now let go." Said Clint, as he releases the arrow.
First Day of class, new friends, new place, so far so good. Charlie finds his seat, along with everyone else in this class. Ancient History and Mythology is just one of the classes Charlie is taking. The only class that he is looking forward to is Film and Art class, something Charlie has been interested in since he was young. The teacher walks in and walks across the room towards the board. Charlie is just happy he can focus on something else for right now.
"Alright everyone. Today's lesson is going to be a bit different." He said. "The Battle of New York has been scheduled next week....today we'll be taking about the order of Ronins."
"..." Charlie kept his silence.
"How many of you know of the Avenger who was rumored to have joined them?" Asks the teacher, The whole class raises their hands. "How many of you know what a Ronin is?" None of them raised their hands.
"I do." Charlie thought to himself.
"The Ronins are a order of trained ninja assassins grouped together to take down criminal organizations, at least that's what the rumors say, but it was way different then." Said the teacher. "Many warriors had different views, some had honor, and cared for others, the other half only focused on revenge and had no remorse for their actions. The ronins used to take down enemy forces, wether they were enemy clans, and other creatures." He said. "It was said that they helped the sorcerers banish another creature, the cruelest monster of them all." As he goes on, Charlie kept looking down at his desk, not wanting to answer any questions. "Since then, the Ronin went into hiding, like shadows of the night, as they hunt down those who wronged innocent lives, and ones that are close to them....you there!" The teacher pointed at Charlie. "You seem awfully Quiet, do you know anything about these assassins?"
"Yes. I was one of them...."
"....no." Said Charlie. "It's all news to me."
"This is a history class, that's pretty much the opposite of news dude." Said the teacher. Most of the students laugh, Charlie just chuckled along with them. "Kidding. Don't worrywe like to have fun here."
"This is a school, it's the opposite of fun." Said a student.
"Quiet, Dennis." Said the teacher. After notes and lessons were taken, the lecture ends, everyone gets up and goes home, the teacher stays at the desk as Charlie passes him by. "Hey, you new here?" He asked, stopping Charlie before he could reach the hallway.
"Yeah, yeah I just got here, just speaking to familiar face right now." Said Charlie. "You don't have to be vague about us knowing each other Jon."
"You know us Ronins we love to be discreet." He said. "How are you holding up?"
"Besides being reminded of what I used to be, I'm good, you?" Charlie asked.
"Eh, can't complain." Said John
"Hope they pay you well here. This place seems....too smart for me." Said Charlie.
"Hey, about what happened, the night you left." Said Jon.
"It's fine." Said Charlie.
"No one blames you. I don't." Said Jon.
"Liam seemed upset." Said Charlie.
"Hey, not everyone has the same opinion as him." Said Jon. "You made a mistake."
"A mission gone wrong isn't something I call a mistake." Said Charlie.
"Better than calling it a falsified assasinyation." Said John. "No one knew Charlie, none of us did."
"I'm fine John." Said Charlie. "And I'm over the whole ronin stuff."
"Sheesh, breaking out hearts Harper." He said. "But if you need something, you know where to find me." He calmly smiles.
"Thanks John, or is it professor Paxton?" He said. John laughs.
"Can you get going already?" He said. Charlie waves and leaves the class. John walks to his desk, sits on his chair and looks at his phone. 17 New phone messages, and a new call right now, It was serious. He answers. "What happened?"
"Calloway." Said the caller. "He's finally going to do it."
"...Shit. Where is he now?" Asked John.
"We don't know." He said. "We need the Ronins we know to come back."
"I'm retired...but I know someone." Said John. "He probably just wants to study his mid term."
"Does he have a choice?" He asked.
"....I'll talk to him." Said John. "Is Barton involved? We could use his help."
"He's out of our hands. To think an Avenger would be discreet." He said.
"Well..." said John.
"I get the point." He said. He hangs up, as John stressfully brushes his mustache.
"Calloway, what did you do?" He said.
