A/N

Balin, Thorin, and Bilbo run through a large hallway. Balin turns into a side tunnel, but Thorin continues forward with Bilbo at his heels. "It's this way! This way! Come on!" Balin calls, and Bilbo stops by the tunnel and calls out to Thorin, still ahead. "Thorin!" the dwarf turns and begins to go back to Bilbo and Balin but stops suddenly. They all see Smaug and you dancing around at the end of the hallway. Thorin yells at Bilbo. "Follow Balin!" Balin pulls Bilbo into the side tunnel just as Smaug's chest glows orange, and he unleashes his fire throughout the hall and beside you. You roar in fear of the dwarf's life and whip your head toward where they are as seeing he uns the other way and leaps into the air, falling into a bottomless pit. He catches onto a chain with a bucket at the end of it.

Smaug ignores your calls at him to stop and leaps into the pit. Smaug claws his way down the tunnel, snapping at Thorin on the chain. Dwalin runs up to the mouth of the hole. You do, too, seeing in vain that you can't fit in the pit. beside you, Dwalin calls out for his king. "Thorin!" he smashes his ax into the machinery holding the chain Thorin is holding on to, and the chain stops descending abruptly. Besides you two, a heavy holding bucket on the other end of the same chain begins falling rapidly, causing Thorin's chain to fly upward. Thorin soars upward, narrowly missing Smaug's head.

Smaug turns and manages to grab the end of Thorin's chain, stopping its movement. Smaug pulls down at the machinery holding the chain at the top of the pit, breaks free of its moorings, and falls into the hole. Hit chain slack, Thorin falls and lands right on the tip of Smaug's closed mouth. He stands on Smaug's top lip as Smaug growls and opens his mouth; fire is visibly rising in his neck. Just as Smaug snaps closed his mouth to eat Thorin, Thorin leaps to the side and grabs another chain. Smaug turns to bite him, but the falling machinery strikes him. Nori, at the pit, hits another Nori machine, and its gears spin rapidly, pulling Thorin on his chain rapidly upward. Smaug roars and blows smoke straight up the hole after Thorin. Thorin reaches the top and throws himself on a ledge just as the fire erupts beside him. He stumbles over to Nori.

you roar as fire blows up in your face and stumbles back, almost stepping on the dwarves. "Go! Go!" thorin calls behind you as he ducks the wrath of your spiked tail. Then, being momentarily blinded by the fire, you roar in pain and trace about Smaug coming up and seeing the fruit of his fire. his golden eyes widen, and he rushes over to you, careful not to get hit by your tail. "Tatsuo!" he calls out, and you cease your fit of awkward stumbling and whip your now gray eyes to him. he winces and creeps closer to you, nudging your head as he does. "I'm sorry," he mumbles but gets cut off as thorin yells a string of insults at the male dragon. You bite back, chuckle, and turn your head to Smaug, feeling his thoughts growl. How dare he call me this?! and in front of that too! His mind is like a battlefield, angry fires burning everything, but a seed of calmness and... lovelies in their path.

You narrow your eyes but step aside as you feel Smaug's heat of flames rush towards you. The fire goes past the pillars and reaches the furnaces. The dwarves and Bilbo, though not in the direct path of the fire, yell from the pain, heat, and pressure. As Smaug stops, fire suddenly comes out of the bottoms of the furnaces, and they begin glowing and working. Smaug growls in confusion and anger. The dwarves run from the pillars as Smaug now begins battering at them with his head. They are solid, like a latticework of metal, but they start to bend under Smaug's tremendous strength. You look, seeing that your sight return and you shake your head, whimpering as the sting of fire leaves your eyes. Smaug turns to you, his gaze softening.
