Chapter 12
I pound on Daniel and Tom's door until they finally answer.
Shirtless, of course.
"I need help," I tell them. "I think I broke your boss."
Daniel groans and Tom smirks. "First of all, he isn't our boss, he's our alpha."
"And second," Tom jumps in. "I told you his body wasn't ready for any hanky panky."
I groan in frustration. "I need help moving him. He's too heavy. Will you guys help me or not?"
They finally agree with only a bit more teasing before following me to Alexander's bathroom. They take in the scene in shock.
After Alexander passed out, I tried to wake him to no avail. Instead, I finished the last stitches on the front before rolling him over and doing a quick stitch on the small puncture wounds on his back. Then, I realized I couldn't drag him to the bed myself, much less lift him into it. That's where Daniel and Tom come in.
"What the hell, Riley?" Daniel sounds appalled.
"Okay, so he woke up and his side was bleeding so we came in here to fix it and he insisted on stitching it up himself, but then he couldn't do it anymore, so he asked me to do it and then he just passed out on me before I finished." I let it all out in one singular-breath, run-on sentence.
Almost comedically, Daniel slowly turns without moving his feet to face me. "So you finished stitching him before you called us?"
"Well, he's breathing, so I didn't think it completely necessary to get you immediately. I was almost done anyway and this way he couldn't feel it!" I reply in defense.
Tom stalks forward. "Let's just get him before wakes up, Day." He grabs Alexander's feet and Daniel reluctantly grabs under his shoulders. Together, they manage to drag him into the bedroom and onto the bed. "Come here, Riley."
I follow Tom into the main room and towards the kitchen.
"We burn a lot of calories," he explains, "especially when trying to heal, so he needs to replenish everything. Main concerns: protein and sugar." I give him a questioning look at the sugar part. "All the exacerbation depletes the sugar supply and causes a crash." He reaches into the freezer and retrieves a blue popsicle which he hands to me. I take it gingerly. Then, he grabs a store bought protein shake from the fridge. "Doctors orders: One popsicle in the unconscious man's mouth and let it melt. When he wakes up, make him drink the shake."
I nod, upset that I forgot to feed him earlier.
"Hey, it's not your fault. You're doing good, Riles."
"Thanks."
When we return to the room, Daniel has changed Alexander into a fresh pair of more comfortable looking boxers instead of the old, bloody shorts. Tom points a finger, smacking his teeth. "Not sure how I feel about that."
"Oh, shut up," Daniel says, walking up to him and planting a kiss on his lips. "And come back to bed with me." His words are soft and seductive, and I let out an 'eww' while pushing them out of the door.
Once their laughter can't be heard anymore, I close the bedroom door and walk over to Alexander's side. Shrugging, I open the popsicle and shove it most of the way into his slack mouth. On second thought, I pull it out a bit so he can avoid a brain freeze. I hop into the bed beside him and flick the tv on, leaning against the headboard as I wait for the popsicle to melt.
I click through the cable channels, rolling my eyes as one of the animal channels has some type of wolf documentary. Of course. I decide maybe it will help me understand these guy better and just leave the channel on. Everything else was boring anyway.
