Second Chance - Choni

Part 2

Cheryl's POV

"If I can have your attention please." Mrs. Jones says drawing Toni and I out of whatever trance we were just in. She lets go of my hand and I immediately miss her touch.

I haven't even bothered to look at the teacher because I'm so caught up in Toni's side profile. She's so beautiful it hurts.

The other parents all go first and I could care less what they do for a living. I'm drawn out of my staring when I see a smile grace her lips and she turns towards me with an eyebrow raised.

Nice job Cheryl, you just couldn't be subtle about it.

I feel my face heat up as I duck my head down with a smile of my own knowing she caught me.

"And now let's welcome Anthony Topaz's mother Dr. Topaz." Mrs. Jones says making me choke on my own spit.

he smiles and walks towards the front of the classroom with a bag she brought with her.

"Hi guys. I don't know if Anthony told you guys this, but I'm a Dentist." She says and the kids start to get squeamish in their seats.

"Now I know most of you are afraid of going to the dentist, but I can assure you it's not all that bad." She says making the kids become less scared.

I watch her in awe as she makes the kids smile and laugh at her goofiness. Once she shows and explains everything to them, she passes out goody bags for them to take home.

"Let's give a round of applause for Dr. Topaz." Mrs. Jones says and I clap my hands for the beautiful woman who makes her way back to where I am. I didn't notice anyone else with her or a ring on her finger.

"Last we have Sasha Blossom's mother, Captain Blossom." Mrs. Jones says making the kids squeal with excitement. I smile and make my way towards the front.

"How many of you guys have seen a fire truck up close?" I ask and only Sasha raises her hand.

"Would you guys like to see one?" I ask and they all squeal with excitement and I can only smile showing my dimples.

"Well why don't we take this Career day outside then." I say and motion for the kids to follow me. They line up behind me as I lead them all outside to the front of the school where my team waits for me. They all are in awe of the large truck and have big smiles.

My eyes scan the crowd and I see the other parents and Mrs. Jones have joined us. I then spot my daughter and the little boy who high fived her side by side.

I then go on to tell the kids all the things they need to know about fires, and for safety. The guys and I then give them a tour of the truck and I let them all sit in my seat.

When I get to the little boy from earlier I pick him up and sit him in my seat.

"Wow! This is awesome Ms. Blossom." He says looking at all the buttons and places his hands on the steering wheel. I grab my helmet from beside him and place it on his head.

He has the biggest smile on his face and it only makes me smile.

I let him wear my helmet until it's time for them to head back inside. He comes running up to me with Sasha and I kneel down beside them.

"Thank you for letting me wear your helmet Ms. Blossom." He says smiling widely as he takes it off.

"It's no problem buddy. Any friend of my daughters is a friend of mine. So you can call me Cheryl." I say making him nod his head. I hold my hand out for him to high five and he does just that.

"What's your name?" I ask taking the helmet.

"Anthony Topaz." He says with his head held high. I can't help but smile at his goofiness.

"Well it's nice to meet you Anthony. Maybe one day you can come to the firehouse and we will give you the grand tour." I say and the little boys eyes light up as a huge smile appears on his face.

"Really?" He asks and I nod my head. I happen to look up and see his mother approaching us with a smile on her face.

He turns around and runs straight towards her. He wraps his arms around her legs as he looks up at her with a huge smile.

"Mami, Cheryl said her and Sasha would give me a tour of the firehouse!" He says with so much excitement. Toni runs her fingers through his hair with a smile of her own.

"That's awesome baby!" She says and Sasha moves to lean into me.

"We could give your Mami a tour too!" Sasha says with enthusiasm clapping her small hands together. Toni looks at me with a smile and I've never felt so weak in my life.

"Yes, we would love to give you the grand tour. The Blossom special right Bug?" I ask and she nods her head giving me her famous smile.

I look back up to Toni and see her smiling at the two of us.

"How about this Saturday?" I ask making the woman nod her head in approval.

"That sounds great." She says placing her hands on Anthony's shoulders.

"We should probably get back inside before we get in trouble." I say motioning for us to head in. Our kids run ahead of us as they giggle with one another.

"I've never seen you here for pickup or drop off. Does your wife normally bring her?" She asks and I give her a small smile shaking my head.

"I normally have my secretary and long time friend bring her to school. My job is so demanding I never really have the time or know my schedule." I say opening the door for her.

"Oh I understand. I still don't know how you do it." She says walking through the door.

"A lot of sleepless nights that for sure. But I was kinda born into this. It's all I've ever known." I say walking beside her down the hallway.

We soon get to the door and I open it allowing her to go first. She thanks me and we make our way to the back of the classroom. Mrs. Jones thanks us all for coming in and the kids grab their goody bags. She dismisses the class and I go to help Sasha with her things. We then make our way outside, but before we get in the truck she runs up to Anthony and gives him a hug. I've heard her talk about Anthony before, so I know he's her best friend.

I look to Toni and see her smiling at the two of them. I approach her and her eyes meet mine making my heart flutter in my chest.

"It was great meeting you. I look forward to seeing you guys Saturday." I say making her smile widen.

"It was nice meeting you too. I'm definitely looking forward to it." She says and I swoon at the softness of her voice.

I watch her walk away with Anthony holding onto her hand and can't help but yearn for her.

"I can't wait for Saturday Momma!" Sasha says and I smile looking down at her.

"Me too Bug, me too." I say watching Toni get in her SUV and drive away.
