Whew, that ending.
I had been looking forward to writing that ending for a long time.
Plans switched around and things got messy, but I knew for awhile that either Trent or Drake was going to die near the end of the original series (TSW originally was going to end on the next novel, Countdown), and that Enzo was going to betray.
I was in a hell of a place when I planned and wrote this. It was near the beginning of 2015 and I spent the first, like, entire four months of that year both sick and depressed. It was a mess and the writing definitely suffered for it, but I do still like how it all came together neatly at the end.
I know another thing sort of screwing with the writing was after so many novels of having a single perspective (all of them but Snowblind before this one), I was still getting the hang of writing from multiple perspectives.
Next up is the grand finale (of this particular arc).
