The bell rang during my last class psychology and I was elated as it signaled the end of the school day. I was really excited because I knew my friends had things planned for the four of us to do together, but before any of that happened, I let them know that there was a place that I needed to go before then.

I got in my car and drove off heading towards my favorite place in the entire world. The meadow of roses.

I was about an hour and a half away from it since I was heading there from my school, but I knew that going to that meadow was always worth it. It was a place where I felt the most calm. It had become a secret hideaway that I could finally go to on my own accord. Even my best friends have never seen or heard about it. I liked having a place like that. Somewhere that only me and my mother who had shown it to me knew about.

The highway was long and windy all the way up the mountains. Then there was a point where you could see a fork in the road. There was one to continue to the other side of the mountain, one to go down it and one that was a bumpy road that lead you to some abandon houses up that way.

I took the bumpy road. The suspension on my new car was a bit unsteadier then I was used to, but the rockiness was not going to stop me. My mom always drove me up here with her jeep that made driving over rocks feel smooth.

Finally, I was able to pull up my car on a dirt area besides some trees. You could see a small amount of the meadow from there, but only if you were really paying attention.

I walked through the trees and made it inside where the meadow was. A few flowers were in bloom, but there were some that were still just budding.

A ritual I had made for myself has been to go to the middle of it just like I have since I was a child and lie there. This time was no different then all the others. So I went and lied there in the middle of the beautiful grass and flowers.

It seemed to have gotten to be progressively smaller since I was a small child, but that was only because my body had grown significantly larger then my old three foot tall body. Everyplace that has stayed in my memory that I still visit seemed to be a much smaller place.

However, there was one thing that never felt that way. That was the great blue sky. No matter what age or how much I grow it never seems to get smaller. It is a thing of infinite space that never ends and no matter how far I stretch my arms out to it I would never be able to touch it.

It was still the most beautiful place I knew though. It was still the only place that made me completely happy and serine.

I closed my eyes and relaxed. It was around 4:00 so I still had some daylight, but I knew I couldn't stay long. However, my body didn't listen because I was being woken up by someone shaking me.

When my eyes opened I was shocked to see two brown eyes staring back at me. I screamed a bit then was overwhelmed by the cold win that hit my face.

I looked at the boy who was sitting across from me and carefully breathed in and out. I noticed that I had a leather jacket that was covering me and the boy across from me only had a black T-shirt, some jeans, and some black combat boots on.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"You'll find out soon enough I'm sure." He said harshly.

Taken aback I said, "Why are you here?"

"I think I could ask you the same question." He replied.

"Talking to you isn't going anywhere is it?"

"Nope." He replied smirking.

"Ok. Could you tell me what time it is at the very least?" I asked.

"What time does it look?"

"Your impossible." I muttered.

"So I've been told." He replied.

I got up and took the leather jacket in my hands and held it out to him. "Here. Take this back."

"Keep it. It's pretty cold out. I'm sure I'll get it back someday. Even if I don't, think of it as a reminder of this day."

Frowning I said. "Alright then." Walking away from him and the meadow the jacket in hand.

"Wait." He told me.

Stoping in my tracks I turned back to look at his face.

"You never said thank you, to me." He said.

"Alright." I said, "Thank you for showing me the one thing that gives me the ability to have faith that you are not so bad after all." I smiled at him and waved my goodbye I held the jacket tightly to my chest as I walked off never looking to see what his reaction was to my strange attempt of a thank you.

I went through the trees seeing a motorcycle parked beside my car. The rude, but kind, stranger did not follow me out to leave on what was obviously his dangerous vehicle. Maybe that was for the best.

I got in my new car and placed the jacket in the seat next to me. I sighed looking at the setting sun in the sky. Today had been such a wonderfully strange day. At least the drive home was only forty five minutes long. My house was closer to the meadow then my school was.

I put the key in the ignition and got driving along the road. I noticed the time was 6:35. I remembered the stranger I had just met. Why couldn't he at least told me the time. Maybe, he, himself didn't know. Maybe, he just wanted to be a mystery.

All the way home I thought of him and the more I thought the more I wanted to know. I wanted to understand him. I wanted to know who he was. The brown eyed stranger was fascinating to me and I hoped that I'd soon meet him again.
