Murray's Hideout
May 15th
1800 Hours

I sat down at the dining table, waiting for Murray to finish making dinner.
Apparently, I wasn't the only one Murray wanted on the team. Two more people are supposed to come.
He was in the middle of adding the seasoning when there was a knock at the door.
"Can you get that for me?" He asked, not looking up from his task.
I walked over to the door and opened it.
At the door were two girls.
"Hi! I'm Tess! We're here to join a guy named... Hurray Mill...?" She shrugged.
"He's right inside!" I gave them a smile and let them in.
"Tess, Rem! So glad you made it! I'm just finishing up with this fried rice..." He grinned, showing off his golden tooth.
He plated the meal he was making and sat down at the table with us.
"I'm Murray Hill! And this is the first member of the team, Benjamin Ripley!" He announced.
I awkwardly waved at them.
"Wait, the Benjamin Ripley? The one who constantly figures out SPYDER's plans? Sick! How'd you manage to get him on our side?" Tess leaned forward in interest.
"You know how the CIA can be..." I shook my head.
"Oh yeah, I totally get it! I used to work for the police and man, was it awful! Everyone kept catcalling me instead of doing their jobs!" Tess huffed.
"If you're looking to not get catcalled, you came to the wrong place!" I laughed.
"Hey! I have limits, you know!" Murray protested.
I raised an eyebrow.
"I'm sorry, would you rather me yell out to the world that I think you have a nice ass?"
Tess choked on her own spit, holding back laughter.
I flushed.
"Murray! Is now really the best time to comment on my ass?" I covered his mouth with my hand.
Tess laughed. "Looks like this was the right place after all!"
With a reddened face, I took my hand off of Murray's mouth and went back to my food.
He smirked and turned to the other girl that was there.
"So Rem, what do you think? Sweet place, huh?" He wiggled his eyebrows.
She took a quick look around.
"Well, it's not terrible."
Murray frowned at the statement.
"That's it? This place wasn't cheap, you know!" He huffed.
Tess and I laughed.
Murray cleared his throat, getting our attention.
"Anyways, you two came here because you wanted to talk about joining, right?" He said.
"Oh hell yeah! You guys are cool! We're in!" Tess gave us a big smile.
We all looked to Rem.
"If Tess thinks you're worth joining, then I trust her judgement. I'm in as well." Rem said.
Murray whooped with joy.
He ran off to grab a big bottle of Coca-Cola and four champagne glasses. He poured the soda in each.
"A toast! To our new team!" He held up his glass.
Me and the others joined him, clinking our glasses
I raised an eyebrow at Murray and gestured towards the beverage.
"We're underage! We can't drink yet!" Murray shrugged.
"So you have no problem with theft and embezzlement, but you don't want to drink while underaged?" I asked.
"Oh shut up, you virgin! I only did this because you wouldn't do it if I actually served alcohol!" Murray scoffed.
"Virgin?!" I protested.
Murray snickered. "Am I wrong?"
Meanwhile, Tess was laughing her ass off.
I sighed and stopped arguing. Nothing good ever comes from arguing with an idiot.
Murray smirked and put his feet up on the table in smug victory.
I took one of the chair legs and pulled the chair out from under him.
I made a small, self-satisfied smile.
"You asshole!" Murray said.
I stared down at him. "Doesn't feel good now, does it? That's how I feel when I'm betrayed by certain people."
"Harsh!" Murray looked almost hurt.
I rolled my eyes and helped him back up.
Sometimes it feels good to be a jerk. Well, to Murray anyways.
After we finished our dinner and drinks, Murray showed us to our rooms.
Before he closed the door, Murray stuck his head into my room.
"Hey, um... Thanks...for joining, I mean..." He said awkwardly.
I looked at him and a smile crept onto my face.
"No problem. Besides, what else could I do after you..."
Murray smiled too.
"I mean, I know I'm a good kisser, but..." He teased.
We both laughed.
"Good night, Ben." He waved goodbye and shut the door.
Wow... It's been a while since I felt like this. Like I had someplace to call home.
It's weird! I think, for the first time since I started this whole spy thing...
I truly felt like I belonged.
