"Joyce!! Wake up its time for school!" Joyce's mom yelled.
"Okay coming mom!!" Joyce replied from the other room
Joyce had a massive crush on Jim Hopper. She saw him as more than just her best friend. But she couldn't think about him right now. She was on a 30 minute time limit.
"What do you want for breakfast sweetie?" Joyce's mom, Carrie, asked
"Oh, nothing I am on a diet" Joyce told her as she walked out the door
"Okay.. Bye! Love you!" Carrie yelled, though Joyce never heard.
She missed the bus!!!
"Hey Joyce! I saw you weren't on the bus so I came straight here. I figured maybe you'd need a friend to walk there with. " Hopper said
As soon as Hopper said that it felt like her day was the best day of her life. She felt like that every day that she was with Hopper.
Noticing the silence she said, "Really? Thank you, your so caring Hop" they each smiled.
"So, what'd ya eat for breakfast Joyce?" Hop asked
"Oh I didn't eat breakfast, I'm on a diet." she told him
"That's nonsense, you don't need a diet your beautiful just the way you are" he said while handing her a protein bar.
"Hop you don't need to give me your lunch it's okay." she told him.
"No it's not okay just eat it already." Hop exclaimed
Right after that Hop was hit with a caught off guard from a car passing by. It was Lonnie.
"Hey Joycie and Hop!!" Lonnie yelled, Saying Hop in a mocking tone of Joyce. This made Hopper very angry so he threw a stick as hard as he could at Lonnie's tire and popped it. "Looks like you have a flat." Hop said back
"Piss off! Joyce never did anything to you!" Hop yelled angrily
This made Joyce so happy, he was the only one who loved her that much. She just didn't know he loved her. I love you Joyce. I love you Hop
That played in both of their minds. How could they be so oblivious. "Hop can I tell you something?" She felt she had no chance with Hop. She had to move on. "Anything."
"I have a crush on someone.."
"I have a crush on someone too."
"Who is it!?"
"I- well I.. uh.. you go first." He knew it was her but how could he say it
"Okay.. I like Lonnie."
Hopper was drinking water at the time. He spat it out. "w-hat?"
"Yeah.. I don't know something about him. "
"oh.. okay. I-I'm gonna go.. see ya in class.. " he was so sad. He loved her. But she didn't like him back, or as he thought.
"Wait what why? Can't we walk together?" it was too late Hopper already ran far ahead.
She knew deep inside that there was something about him hesitating to say his crush and when she said Lonnie he became sad. She knew he liked her. She finally knew.
She was much faster than Hopper so she managed to catch up. She found him sitting on a rock
"H-hey" she managed to say out of breath
"I'm skipping class. Go ahead without me."
"What? Why! You never skip class!" she asked
"Because I can."
"Just go before your late Joyce. "
"Is it something I said? Hop we've been best friends since 2nd grade come on you can tell me anything. "
"Yeah anything? " he asked
"Yes!!!"
"Well wanna know who my crush is?"
She was more than excited. She knew it was her.
"Yes!!!!!"
"Its-- uh.. Diane. "
She felt like her heart shattered to pieces.
"Oh.. can I tell you something Hop"
"Anything..""
"My real crush is you"
"Don't bother lying to try and make me happy, its fine Joyce I'm over it, c'mon."
She was so sad. She had no idea he thought she really liked Lonnie. Why had she said that stupid thing!!!
Hopper was happy. He didn't know if she was being honest. "My real crush is you" he said under his breath. Joyce heard his words and couldn't help but smile. She never told him.
"Hey Hop.. what do you say, my house.. at 7?"
"7? How about 6."
"Okay." they are each skipping class together
