Chapter Two: Operation Yankee and Union Jack
Elizabeth POV
I was at the Orange Orange with Sarah, waiting for her to go on her lunch break. That was when we'd be staging the meeting between me and Casey. Sarah would introduce me as her friend from England, who she promised to help find new electronics for her apartment. And John would be assisting me with my purchase, then he would ask me out on a date.
I still wasn't sure how I felt about the plan, but orders were orders. I had to do whatever I could to cooperate. It was my duty to keep British intelligence top secret the way it was intended.
I gazed down at my outfit, wondering if I looked the part of a sweet British girl from London. I had a turquoise blouse on with a navy blue cardigan, light blue skinny jeans, and tan flats. My brown curls were in a high pony tail and I had black frames spectacles perched on my nose.
"Elizabeth, you ready to go?," I looked up to see Sarah standing above me with her purse on her shoulder.
"Yes, let's get this over with," I stood up, leaving the yogurt establishment. As we began walking to the Buy More, I felt slightly uneasy.
"Cross, are you alright?," Sarah asked as she walked beside me.
"It's John. I'm not sure acting like a couple will be easy for us."
"Why wouldn't it be? You're both perfectly professional agents."
I stepped up to the Buy More, immediately transitioning into my American accent,"Things between John and I were....well, they were a bit romantic at one point. John had been more devoted in the relationship than I could let myself be. It's not like I didn't want to be fully committed, I just couldn't maintain being a girlfriend and a spy."
"Why didn't Casey say anything about it?," Sarah and I stopped at the inside of the store.
"Our split was not exactly on the best terms. Due to the fact I got too close, my director ordered that I officially begin using new alias' rather than my real name."
"So you knew Casey in your beginnings as a spy?"
"Not just that, Sarah. John was-," I was then cut off by a short bearded man with blue eyes.
"Hey Sarah, who's your friend?," he smiled.
"I'm Elizabeth. Elizabeth Cross. I'm Sarah's cousin," I flashed him a charming smile. I then noticed his name tag,"And you must be Morgan. I just moved here from South Dakota."
"Well if you ever need anyone to show you around town, I'm always available. Maybe tonight would be good for a little dinner?," Morgan grinned.
I inwardly cringed at the thought of going on a date with him. This guy was way too short and extremely hairy.
"That's extremely sweet, Morgan. I appreciate the offer and I mean no offense, but you're not really my type either," I gave him an empathetic smile,"Although, I am sure we'll be able to hang out as friends. I mean, I'll be moving in near Chuck's home."
That's when Casey began to approach the scene.
Now it's time to flirt with John Casey.
