5: Retaliation

Your Perspective

Walking out of the building, I met up with the traveler, Xiangling and Zhongli, Asking why I had been summoned during work hours. They all looked at each other before Xiangling explained how somehow, the Jade Chamber had been taken hostage by the Fatui. I raised an eyebrow at this, asking why they couldn't get Beidou or Xiao to help with that. Considering how she was going up there to have a meeting with Ningguang. Now it is, Zhongli's turn to speak up.

"Xiao is currently preoccupied elsewhere. As for Miss Beidou . . . ." He starts. I put two and two together, and a serious expression crosses my face.

"She's probably not broken out by now for a reason. Very well, come with me." I say, having a shortcut to the Jade Chamber. Ningguang told me about it in case something happened and I needed to provide access to Beidou. We take the shortcut, and I tell them to split off and secure other hostages, whereas I could handle the rest on my own. The group nods, and I sneak down a hallway and see a large group of Fatui guarding a door, most likely where Beidou is being held if there are so many. I summon my broadsword a point at the guards. They see me and start rushing to ward me, but one fell blast of Hydro quickly put an end to them. I then use it as a platform, generating a wave of Hydro underneath. Using the wave, I crashed through the Fatui and broke through the door, seeing Beidou along with other members of the Qixing on the other side. 

"Apologies, for the delay." I said, landing roughly on the ground. The other fatui members in the room look at each other before trying to escape. Beidou put an end to that by grabbing one by the collar and tossing them into the escaping masked assailants.

"No need to apologize, babe. Just glad you got here." Beidou says, bringing me up by the collar for a kiss on the lips. When I pulled away, I had but one question on my mind.

"How'd they manage to take you hostage, Bei?"

"They were threatening employees under us members of the Qixing. In order to minimize potential casualties, we had to comply. " Ningguang stated. I understood, turning to Beidou who sheepishly said she could have dealt with them, but that they threatened to harm her crew and her fiance. I sighed, telling Beidou I could have handled them myself before I yawned and leaned against my broadsword. I guess I over-exerted myself during my assault, but I at least managed to help out.

"I know, I just . . . didn't want to take chances, babe." She says. 

"However, with that out of the way . . . Hopefully you left some for me to get revenge on." Beidou says, cracking her knuckles, surrounded by a scary aura.

"Yeah, there should be some reinforcements coming soon."

"Alright. And (Y/N)? T-Thanks for the rescue."
