Aizawa's hair floats skyward, with every step he takes, it moves just a little bit. His capture scarf dances around him, moving like a snake as it reveals a familiar set of unique bright yellow goggles.
"Eraserhead?!" Midoriya would accidentally blurt out, making the man in front of him quirk an eyebrow.
The students around them didn't even recognize what the six considers to be a household name. After all it was Eraserhead that saved them from bleeding out from their injuries, although it was Aizawa Shouta that took care of them.
Tanjiro turned to Zenitsu, 'He knows him?' They taught in unison.
"If you really do know me, you would've already guessed that I erased your quirk just now." Aizawa blinks, letting his hair fall with the force of gravity. He lets his eyes remain closed. "The other teachers are wrong about you, you should've never been allowed in the first place."
"Wait, did I hear that right?"
"Erase his quirk? That's pretty freaky."
"Who even is this guy?"
"I think I've heard of people like that." The frog-like girl speaks up. "We probably don't know him since he works downlow."
"Were you planning to break your bones again?"
Aizawa opened his eyes to focus on the green teenager. He was extremely straight to the point. Tanjiro tried to open his mouth to defend his friend.
"Kamado stay out of this, and let him talk." He says. Tanjiro was met with an elbow to the side by Zenitsu, who looked like he didn't want Aizawa's infamous glare directed at them. "Answer me. Are you going to keep counting on someone else to save your broken body?"
"That's not what I was trying to do!" Midoriya retorts.
"No matter what your intentions are, you have to admit, you will be nothing more than a liability in battle."
Midoriya looked away.
"You have the same reckless passion of a man who made himself known by saving 1,000 people by himself and became a legend." The man's eyes flickered to the corner of one of the buildings.
(He knows you're there Yagi. Just as all six of his kids do.)
"But with that drive alone, you are worthless if you can only throw a single punch before breaking down."
Midoriya looked over to Tanjiro's concerned face. To green head's surprise, his friend gave him a reassuring smile, making exaggerated breathing movements, reminding him of what they trained for. They were too caught up with each other that they didn't notice the gasps of their classmates with Aizawa's remark about Midoriya, or the weird looks Tanjiro was getting from his own friends.
He just needed to remember to breathe. Don't let the nervousness clog up his lungs, don't let himself stop.
"Now go on and take your final throw."
Midoriya took the ball in his hand and turned away from the rest of his classmates in determination.
'I still can't control my power.' Midoriya admits to himself. 'But I can't let Tanjiro down.'
'I need to breathe...'
'Just breathe!'
Midoriya took a deep breath. Eyes closed and preparing for a swing.
"There are a lot of forms of breathing techniques out there." Tanjiro explains. "The main five are water, thunder, stone, wind, and flame. They even have their own sub techniques. Each style also has its own requirements. For example, water is fluid, best for redirecting attacks, thunder is best for quick attacks, wind is aggressive so and so forth."
