Tanjiro watches Kanao and Inosuke sitting in front of the coffee table with a bunch of notebooks and writing utensils.

The latter looked like they're smoking in the head, he's grumbling and cursing to himself as he's clutching on a piece of paper so tight it might rip apart.

It was about a week ago that Aizawa discovered that Inosuke didn't know how to read or write.

Which spur the conversation of which one went to school or not.

Genya, Tanjiro, Nezuko and Kanao were Homeschooled.

All of them learned the fundamentals of writing, reading and counting as well as simple mathematics. Kanao learned more science and medicine under Shinobu and Kanae.

Zenitsu actually went to school but stopped because of the dreaded girlfriend of his that tricked him, he lost the money to provide for his schooling.

It was surprising, but he said he always wanted to be a writer if he didn't become a demon slayer.

So there they were, helping Inosuke to at least learn how to read and write in the next 2 months to prepare for school.

They also joined in these small classes, with Aizawa guiding them (they don't know how to properly hold ball pens and pencils so they were taught properly about that as well.)

They were told to write their names on paper with it. All their handwriting (sans Kanao) were abysmal, they were used to ink and brushes.

They were kind of getting a hang of it now.

Today, however, was a very special day for the gang.

They were allowed to finally go outside! Well, with an adult, that is.

The only place they ever went to was Kiyashi Ward Mall, which was, in of itself, kind of big, but they haven't really had the chance to explore more. Since they're staying here longer than they would like, they have to get used to it somehow.

Kayama was excited for them. Barging into the common room with flourish as she sets down six boxes of what she told them were 'phones'.

"Since you'll be going outside, even with our supervision, you need to learn how to contact us in case you get lost."

She hands them each of the small and thin bricked shaped objects. As the woman passed Inosuke, she slapped his hand from trying to bite on the phone.

Tanjiro looked down on him. All of their phones looked the same. The backs were a holographic color changing silver that turns a bit rainbow when you move it in the right way with the right light.

"We'll get custom phone cases later so we don't switch your phones around." She reassures them. "Believe me, I also hate how bland it looks."

Kanao just stared at the phone that was placed on the coffee table with all the books and papers, head tilting to the side. Genya was scowling at it, like it offended him as he stared at his reflection off the black glass. Nezuko refused to touch hers, letting it on her lap.

"Agatsuma-kun, since you're probably the most knowledgeable out of the rest of your little, I'm sure you alright know how to use this thing." Kayama says, handing him his own phone. "I'm sure you're qualified to teach it to them."

Zenitsu stared at the phone in his hands.

"I don't know how."

Kayama stilled.

"What?"

It seems as though the adults had the wrong conclusions on where they were from.

Aizawa's theory was still considered kind of their basis for dealing with the kids. But since they apparently had families and a decent educational background (except for Inosuke) they just suspected they weren't explained things at a young age, and they decided to ease the information given to them slowly.
