Cale wanted to go home right away when he saw what the students had installed for them. He really wanted to go home if it weren't for Choi Han dragging him back here, he really wouldn't take a single step here.
After the day wherein he coughed up blood in front of Alver and lost consciousness in his arms, he was sent to the hospital. The news of him stopping a bomb attack was spread like wildfire in the university by the students who had survived the bomb in the auditorium. This news was also relayed to his family, they of course visited him. His father and stepmother were crying at the sight of him, extracting the poison on his body. His brother, Callix Henituse who's currently overseas, wanted to go home at that moment. If it weren't for him waking up on time, his brother would be here, abandoning his mission just to come home. His other younger siblings didn't even want to leave his side. He just persuaded them to just visit him at night. Of course, everyone in the disciplinary committee was visiting him for the past few days until his discharge. But there was one person who didn't visit him during his stay in the hospital. It made him a bit melancholy.
But that person had the audacity to smile at him as he walked down the aisle with red carpet on it, the petals of roses were being showered to him by his fellow students.
Cale was frowning so much from the attention he was getting while the others who're with him were smiling so much.
"Fuck."
"Cale-nim, this is your moment. Smile!"
Choi Han was beside him smiling and waving to the students. The female students almost fainted on their seats.
'Just how did it come to this?'
Cale thought as he silently glared at Alver who's standing on a makeshift podium in the middle of their track and field stadium inside the university. Just what is happening here? Anyway, let's go back two days before the awarding ceremony, yes, you read it right. An awarding ceremony.
Days ago, Cale was visited by Rosalyn as the proxy of the president. Since Alver was said to be very busy due to bomb incident. Rosalyn, at some point, raised the topic of awarding the disciplinary for showing their heroism due to the recent incident. Of course Cale immediately declined, he'd rather investigate 'M' rather than receive a medal with stifling formalities and heavy responsibilities. But their committee values democracy. So when he disagreed, he was voted out. Since everyone one wanted to receive an award, well they just wanted for Cale to receive one since he had done most of the work in that incident. They wanted everyone to recognize Cale and his efforts. So they voted yes, Cale couldn't help but also say yes later on. Rosalyn was very delighted at what happened. Cale thought that it was a simple awarding ceremony since Alver knew he didn't like extravagance. But what Cale didn't know, Alver was also voted out by his council. He had no other choice but to abide by his passionate members who's really moved by what Cale and his committee had done. This will also serve as revenge for his little troublemaker dongsaeng who wouldn't let a day pass without pissing him off or making him worry. Alver is kind of looking forward to seeing Cale's reaction when he's about to receive his medal. It was also the reason why he didn't visit, even once. Even if he really wanted to. He waited for this day and he wanted to laugh at him. Cale was frowning so much like he was about to be executed rather than be awarded as he walked down the red carpet.
'He's probably cursing me under his breath...'
Alver thought as he felt a glare from Cale who's being showered by rose petals.
The awardees: the disciplinary committee and some student council members were now on stage, it was a solemn ceremony and thankfully, it was proceeding fast. Alver was the one who gave them the medals of recognition along with an award. When it was Cale's turn to have a medal. Alver smiled at him. Cale could only frown as his eyes brow creased together.
"What is this bullshit, hyung-nim?"
Alver chuckled at him as he put a medal on his uniform.
"We haven't seen each other for days and that's how you greet me? Wow, I really can feel that you missed me, my dear dongsaeng."
Cale didn't answer him at that moment. Alver finished putting his medal and Cale was the last person on the line. He didn't want to go away from Cale but he was the emcee for this event.
"... I missed you, hyung-nim. I'm always waiting for you to visit, but you never did. I'm a bit sad, you know?"
Alver heard Cale's silent whisper in the midst of the students' cheers. Alver looked back to see a small blush on Cale's face as he looked away from him. Cale was thinner than the last time he had seen him, but he was still undeniably head turning. At that moment, Alver unmistakably hastened the ending ceremony. And of course, there were some people who noticed the fast pace of their dear president as he kept on looking at Cale's location.
The ceremony finally ended. Everyone was cheering for their university's heroes. Alver waved his hand before going off the stage. His eyes kept looking for Cale, but he didn't see a glimpse of the red head. It seemed like Cale had already left. Alver was a bit disappointed. Looks like they can't talk today as well. But he was entirely mistaken.
A hand pulled him from behind. That slim and weak hand forced Alver to look at that person. It was Cale.
At that moment he was pulled by Cale closer to his face as he smirked at Alver.
"Gasp!"
"Oh my!"
"Hey! Not here!"
Everyone on the disciplinary committee teased them, including Rosalyn.
Cale pulled away from Alver at that moment.
"Checkmate, hyung-nim."
Cale left him there, stunned wide-eyed and red faced.
It was a good finishing move.
End.
