CHAPTER 3

"Wow, that was fascinating. "Is that how love feels?" she asked, smiling. She had a nostalgic feeling. She had always fantasized what it was like to be in love as a child. Everyone in her immediate vicinity was in a relationship. She was envious. "Now that I think about it, I'm not so sure." "It wasn't horrible being single, but it was good to be with someone," she explained.

"OK, what should we do next?" she pondered. She had a thought. She was struck by the idea of romance. She put on the headset and typed in romance. She was reintroduced into the simulation. Alexis is her name. She's had a rocky relationship history. She reasoned, "Let's alter it." She hit the power button to begin the process. She drew her eyes shut.

She opened her eyes, and she was in an unfamiliar room. She looked around the room. This room looks elegant. Is this my room? She asked. She stood up. Then, her phone rang. She picked up her phone. "Lexie!" he shouted. "Why are you shouting, bro?" she said, putting the phone away from her ear. "Did you forget that you have a meeting?" he said. She looked at the time and her eyes widened.

Damn it, she thought. "Lexie?" Jordan called out to her." I didn't forget about it," she says. She said, "I'm on my way there," "You had better be," he said. "Yeah, see you later, bro," she immediately hung up the phone. She rushed around. She just left the house without taking her breakfast. She decided to stop by the café near her office. She placed an order for her usual coffee. She took a seat at the table after that. She needed to double-check her presentation, but her laptop was not cooperating.

When Ezekiel stepped in to order his coffee, he noticed Lexie experiencing computer problems. "How come it isn't working?" "Damn it," she grumbled, irritated. He had noticed her. He came up behind her and approached her. "Do you require assistance?" he inquired. She smiled and nodded. He took the mouse from her. He was quite close to her. He had a chiseled jawline, hypnotic blue eyes, and gorgeous lips. She couldn't take her gaze away from his stunning attractiveness. He said, "There." It was resolved. She expressed her gratitude by saying, "Thank you." "My name is Ezekiel," he introduced himself. They shook hands and she said, "Alexis."

He walked away, saying, "See you around, Alexis." She checked her watch. She realized she was going to be late for her meeting. She shut off her laptop and dashed out the door. She went to her workplace. She dashed to the conference room. She pushed open the door. "I'm sorry, I'm late," she apologized. She was gasping for air. "You have to be on time, Lexie, even if you're the CEO." Jordan sighed. "This is the third time this week. "I'm sorry, brother. I ran into some issues," she explained. He said, "Just have a seat." She sat down in her seat.

He was surprised to learn that she was the CEO. "Anyway, Lexie," Jordan said, "this will be your new partner, Ezekiel Lang." She shook his hand and said, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Lang." "Pleased to meet you, Mrs. Reyes," he said as he kissed her hand. She was self-conscious. "Now, let's get this meeting started," Jordan added. They talked about their companies' future plans. Ezekiel couldn't take his gaze away from her the entire time. Alexis talked about her company's advantages and profitability. The meeting lasted around four hours.

The meeting was over. They exited the conference room. "I'll let you two get to know each other. "The rest of you can join me for dinner," Jordan added. Lexie and Zeke were left on their own. Silence. He broke the ice by saying, "So, you were the CEO." "Yeah, and you were my partner," she added. "Was it fate or chance?" He shrugged and said, "Who knows?" She stated, "I'd say it's more of a coincidence." He cocked his head and smirked.

"You'll start working at my company tomorrow, right?" he inquired. She smiled and nodded. He asked, "Do you want to talk about this over dinner?" "Sure," she answered, "Let me get ready." He smiled and said, "I believe you look terrific already." She reddened a little. "I'm going to have to touch up my make-up a little." She said, "Give me a few minutes." He groaned and said, "Fine." She had to use the restroom. She spent ten minutes in there.
