Clay's Pov

The wind felt good on my skin, it wasn't too dry, it wasn't too moist. Miles, Sayori and I walk towards the school while we making each other laugh and overall having a good time.

I check my watch and see that it was 7:58 am, we just barely made it and went our seperate ways, Miles and Sayori went to their classroom while I head to the the principal's office.

The layout of the school was new to me, so I got a bit lost. I thought of a plan but it might be embarrassing. Grades over dignity I guess.

I knock and open a random door. As I do so, the teacher and students of that particular room look at me in confusion.

This is what I exactly wanted. I act embarassed and ask the teacher where the principal's office was.

"Sorry, I thought this was the principal's office, I'm a bit lost."

"No worries, you must be new? The principal's office is nearby. Just take a right on the next turn and it should be on the right side of the wall. There's a big sign over the door that says 'Principal's Office, you cant miss it."

Whispers of the class fill the room, some were of confusion, some were of shock. I couldn't help but overhear one of the conversations near me.

"Is that the new student? I hear he was delayed for a week because of an incident that happened."

"Really? I heared that he was involved in a gang before transfering."

I kind of got pissed because of the fake rumors but I decided to ignore them and thank the teacher for the directions.

I close the door behind me and head straight to the principal's. Good thing the teacher I went to was nice.

After some walking I arrive at the principal's office. I knock on the door waiting for a signal for me to enter. I hear a voice saying that I can come in.

The principal was seated at the end of the room. The room was huge, it had a regal red carpet, fancy plates and utensils and other shit that was pretty expensive.

He was sitting in a rather comfortable chair from the looks of it. He looked like he was in his mid 40s.

A woman approaches the principal and whispers to him, his face lights up and is filled with joy. She was probably his secretary or something.

"So you must be the new student! Welcome, welcome! Please, take a seat."

"Thank you for having me mister principal, sir."

"Oh please, call me Mr. Cyprus. And how about you young man? What is your name?"

"Clay, Clay Atlas. Mr. Cyprus, sir."

"So, Mr. Atlas. What was the reason you weren't able to attend school for the past few weeks."

The smile on his face was immediately replace with a more serious look. His elbows were on his legs with is hands clasped together.

The sudden change in atmosphere shocked me. I was filled with anxiety, my body was tensed up like crazy.

"I, I was attending to some personal business, sir."

I was barely able to get a sentence out. His gaze was piercing, it was like he was starring into my soul.

"And may I ask, what was this personal issue?"

"Um, it was about my mother. She recently-"

I cut myself off. I couldn't muster up the strength to say it. It was so recent, I just can't move on that quickly.

"I'm sorry, can we please not talk about this? It's kind of a touchy subject for me."

His serious face was wiped off his face and was replaced with a look of sympathy.

"I'm sorry for asking, Mr. Atlas. Here is your class schedule and student ID. Your classroom number is already on your schedule."

"Thank you."

I stand up and walk outside. I close the door behind me and look ahead. Being sad won't do anything.

It says on my schedule that my classroom is on the second floor. I look around and see a set of stairs going up. I quickly walk towards them and head upstairs.

On the second floor I was met with a long hallway. Countless doors were on the right side if the wall. In a way, it was pretty intimidating.

I stop infront of the door and see that it had the same numbers on the sign and the schedule.

My heart was racing, will I be accepted in my new "home"? Only one way to find out.

As I was about to enter the room, a teacher who looked like they were headed inside looked at me.

"Are you Mr. Atlas?"

The woman that I'm assuming is my new homeroom teacher asked me. She looked like she was in her late 20's.

"Yes I am, are you the homeroom teacher of this class?"

"You are correct, do you want me to introduce you to your new classmates?"

Her smile was as bright as the sun. I could tell she was the nicest teacher here. It looks like I was in safe hands.

"Yes please, I would like that."

I return her smile and step aside. She enters the room and places her things om the teacher's desk infront of the room.

"Okay class, it looks like we have a new student joining us today."

My heart was racing even faster now, it could probably win in a race against a car or something. I look inside and see that she was giving me the signal that I should come in.

Here goes nothing.
