Laurel looked at herself in the mirror and frowned. She turned around and turned her neck so she could see in the mirror. She thought she looked good but would Clyde think she looked good? She had never been the type to wear fancy bras or lacy panties before and her trip into Fairview so she could visit the lingerie shop had surprised her. She had a hard time making her choices. She wanted sexy but not slutty.
Laurel and Emily had talked on the phone about it. Emily had more experience with that sort of thing. Together they had gone online and gone over the lingerie, giggling like a couple of silly girls. Emily helped steer her in the right direction.
She hoped that Clyde would like how she looked. Because today was the day. She couldn't wait any longer. She was headed over to Clyde's so they could cook together but Laurel was determined to make love with Clyde and stay the night. She knew he was waiting for a signal from her.
Taking one last look at the pink lacy bra and matching panties, she reached for the little black dress that she had saved for parties back in college. It was very form fitting and showed a bit more cleavage than she would normally wear. She pulled out her black open toed heels and slid them on. Next she put on an ankle bracelet as well as 3 bracelets for her wrists. Finally she slipped on a silver rice bead chain and her silver posts for her ears.
Taking a look down at her painted toe nails, she remembered her conversation with Mellie yesterday. It was the first time she'd been in Mellie's shop. She'd had a hair trim, pedicure and a manicure. Mellie tried to talk her into getting some nails put on but Laurel said no.
"Men think they're sexy, you know. I bet Clyde would like them," Mellie said.
"I'll have to ask him but they're not for me. I couldn't work with those. I couldn't even fit them in a pair of work gloves."
Mellie shook her head. "With the work you do, I don't know how you keep your fingernails looking nice. They're not long but they're in good shape. You got nice hands."
"Got my mom's hands," Laurel said.
Mellie nodded. "Where are you and Clyde going that you're getting all this done?"
Laurel felt a slight flush in her cheeks. "Nowhere. I just thought it would look nice."
Mellie studied her face and then went back to filing Laurel's nails. "Going to see Clyde tonight?"
"Not tonight, no."
"Tomorrow then?"
"Yeah, I'm going over to Clyde's and we're going to cook dinner together."
"Ahh. I see."
"You see what?"
"Sure you don't need any waxing?"
"Mellie Logan."
Mellie suddenly peered closely at Laurel's face. "You got your eyebrows waxed recently. You went somewhere else to get waxed?"
Laurel definitely turned red. "I did. Over in Fairview ."
"Why?"
"Because I just couldn't go to my boyfriend's sister for that type of waxing, Mellie. I'm sorry but I couldn't."
Mellie started to laugh. "Oh, Laurel. You went and got a full wax. Where else did you go to in Fairview?"
Laurel sighed. "If you must know, that little lingerie shop I heard you and Sylvia talking about last week."
"Oh my god, my brother is about to get lucky."
"Shush, Mellie. Don't you say a word to anyone. Especially Clyde. Oh, and don't you dare tell Joe Bang."
