Marissa

Everyone saw them off, even Rebecca, who seemed too smug for someone who supposedly got shot down. If Levi didn't handle the situation soon then, she would have to. There's only so much a person could take before snapping. Marissa already let the first incident slide; there wouldn't be a second. She had to live with these people, and respect was a must.

They took one of the smaller boats, perfect for a cozy getaway, but they were still not speaking to each other. If the guards would've come, she would've technically spoken to them more. Levi spent his time sailing the boat; even when she wandered up there, he would ignore her. It wasn't like he needed to focus that much; hell, Jodeci and his wife talked, snuggled, and he even taught her how to drive the damn thing.

Their silent grudge match lasted until the engines went dead. Levi came down the stairs in his signature outfit v-neck, loose-legged pants, and bare feet. He stood there looking at her, almost as if he was deciding to keep on ignoring her or not. Marissa wasn't sure why it bothered her, but she wasn't going to wait for the bite of rejection. As she headed out of the room, he cleared his throat. She faced him, trying to hide her irritation.

"We'll anchor here for a few days. I'm tired; I'll be laying down," he dug in his pocket and handed her a satellite phone, "Tell Loc I said hi."

"I'll make sure to get his number next time I see him, but are you sure you don't want to call Rebecca? A little bit of phone sex will put you right to sleep," Marissa said.

She spoke without thinking and felt guilty for saying it. Marissa was tired of fighting already, but he just pushed her buttons in the worst way. Before she could apologize, he was in the bedroom with the door closed. A facepalm to the head wouldn't cover it, she climbed the stairs to the top, and her jaw dropped.

The water was so clear that it looked shallow. Every fish, coral, and debris were visible. Their boat was tucked away in a rocky cul de sac; a little ways off was a small sandy beach. It was beautiful and secluded. Marissa got ready to tan; it was sunny, and with no one around, she could strip down and get rid of her tan lines.

She dragged the small stereo to the deck with a bottle of liquor. Marissa made it about a third of the way through the bottle when she finished baking in the sun. Levi was still down below, it's been a few hours, and he should be waking up soon. She went down below and grabbed the goggles, net, and spear from the closet. The book on clan history explained their hunting techniques, and she felt like she could do it. She would surprise him with dinner as a peace offering.

Marissa leaped in with a splash and yelped, the freezing water cooled off her heated skin. She peddled around looking for a school of fish. One came in sight, and she raced after it, ready to attack, but as she got close, they dispersed. She tried jabbing whatever got close and missed. Marissa repeated the process over and over again and came up short every time. She had to come up with another plan of attack.

"You're too loud. You'll never catch anything like that."

She squealed and grabbed her chest, "What are you, a sea dragon ninja? I thought you were sleeping."

"I was until you screamed jumping in," Levi said, treading water behind her.

He looked more like a sea dragon now. Levi was covered in scales, his lizard-like eyes returned, and his fingers were claws.

"Sorry, it was cold," Marissa said, trying to keep her tired legs moving.

Levi pulled her close and wrapped her legs around his waist. The heat in her face went up as her naked body pressed against him. His movements were delicate and smooth, keeping both of them above the surface. Marissa ran her fingers over his neck and collarbone; he was too busy searching the area with laser focus. The scales in water were like silk; she could rub them all day.
