A Little Goes A Long Way (16)

*Now actual present day just like the anime*

"News went on about Law again." Corazon informed while leaning back in his purple hammock. This left a small smile to cross your lips. You were proud of who he was but still concerned about the marines going after him.

"Are you gonna go back to being a marine anytime soon?" You ask leaving him to flinch. Not only did he not bring up the fact he was a marine, he had no clue you knew about it. It has been so long and finally it has crossed your mind. "W-What do you mean..?" He asked sitting up straight in the hammock. You smile to yourself and look over at him from your rocking chair.

Yes, you and Corazon both owned a rocking chair that was placed in a fun little living room you both shared. It had your shelf of books and Corazon's hoodie stash. You closed the book you were currently reading and gaze at him with knowing eyes. "It was when Vergo told Doflamingo you were working with the marines to try and eliminate his plans."  You tell leaving him in shock. "Doffy told you everything???" He asked in slight worry. You could tell he didn't want you to know much, the grip on the hammock was an easy gesture to spot.

"Yes.." You agreed with a nod. It did hurt to know that Corazon was keeping things from you but you knew it was for a good reason. "Why did you keep such information from me?" You ask in curiosity as he gulps. He stayed silent for a moment and let's out a sigh. "..I didn't want word to go out. I knew I could trust you but if anyone heard then the plan would've failed right then and there." Corazon explained with guilt. You understandably nod your head and smile.

"I do have some things I was keeping from you as well.." You say in a guilty tone. You scratched your cheek with an awkward smile. "..I did work under the marines as well.. But! Only for a little while." You explain while getting out of the chair. Corazon stared at you for a moment in disbelief. "You were? What was your code name?" He asked watching you walk over to your shelf. "...(code name).." You answer causing his eyes to go wide. "You're the doctor that fixed my arm!" He exclaimed in shock while pointing straight at you. You quickly turn around and look at him.

"I-I fixed your arm??" You ask in a puzzled tone. You both stare at each other as realization started to kick in. You drop your book and cover your mouth in shock. "N-No way.." You couldn't believe it. Your first and only love was Corazon since day one.

*Flashback* (Y/n and Corazon's Age: 14)

"C/n are you ready for your next patient?" A marine soldier asked while peeking in from the entrance of the tent. The tent was set up in the middle of a field. Some marine soldiers had gotten wounded from their last mission and it was your job to help them. Your next patient was C/n (Corazon's code name). "Yes, bring in c/n please." You began to set up new equipment after your last patient. "Where are the other doctors..?" You thought while hearing someone open up the tent.

A fairly tall boy around your age walked in with a messed up arm. His messy blonde hair covered his eyes and only half his face could be seen. His face also looked fairly rough because of a noticeable bruise on his chin. "Do I sit there..?" He quietly asked pointing to the examination table. "Yes, I'll take a look at your wounds quickly." You clean off your hands while he went to go sit down.

"So what brought you here?" You ask while getting a notebook out. "Um.. Damaged arm, enlarged bruise on my face." He answered while looking away from you. "He must be an introvert.." You thought while putting the notebook away. "Let me see what's going on." You walk closer to him. "Slowly place out your arm toward me." You instruct while watching him extend out his arm.

You could see his expression, he was trying to bare with the pain. "You must've crushed some muscle fibers. I'll get some pain relief ointment and wrap." You quickly grab some wrap and ointment off your other table. "This should help with the pain." You began to rub the ointment on his arm gently getting it evenly over the surface.

"You're very beautiful.." He commented.

The comment came from thin air, you weren't expecting him to say anything. You stare at him in slight shock as his face quickly turned red. "I-I d-didn't m-mean to say that!!!" He exclaimed in panic. "I-I u-uh.." He couldn't speak he was too nervous to.

You could feel your face heat up a bit. His comment made you smile. "I.. I don't mind.. I was just caught off guard, but thank you." You smile up to the boy. His face was still very red. You try to ignore yourself from feeling too happy and wrap his arm up quickly.

"Let me get you a brace. This will help it stay in place." You walk over to a box and open it to reveal different types of braces. Knee braces, Arm braces, neck braces. Any brace you could think of was in that box.

For him in particular you grabbed him a light weight arm brave. You walk back over to him and wrap his arm gently. "Alright you're done for today. If anything hurts just ask to visit me." You then began to clean up your stuff. "O-oh yeah.. Thank you." He bowed when you turned around to look at him.

He then began to walk out but before he could you stopped him. "O-Oh uh.. One more thing!" You ran over to him as he stopped in his tracks. You didn't know if you wanted to but your body told you to do it. You walked up to the boy and kissed his cheek. He looked back at you in shock. The action left both of you in shock. He placed a hand on his cheek and blushed crazily. "T-Thank you for calling me beautiful today.. No one's ever called me that before."  You thanked the boy with a smile.

He quickly nodded at you and smiled. "O-Of course." He answered with his cute stutter. "Are you almost done C/n?" The marine soldier outside asked. "Y-yes!"You answer as he walks to the exit. "Thank you." And just like that he walked out. You had never seen the boy again.

*end of flashback* 

"You were a lot more cold back then.." Corazon commented with a chuckle.  "H-Huh? What is that suppose to mean?" You ask while folding your arms. "You were quiet.. Now your the bright light of my life." He replied with a smile. This left you a blushing mess. You puff out your cheek and walk to the door. "W-We will be in Wano tomorrow if we keep going. Make sure your guard is up. New world is getting dangerous." You walk out leaving him to sit in his hammock alone.

"H-Honey! Wait for me!" He tried to get out of the hammock but ended up falling down on his face. "Ow.." He quickly got back up and ran out of the room.

The first meet between us.. It was such a small encounter..

Now I'm here together with him.. Not even knowing he was c/n..  

A little really does go a long way..
