Legolas keeps a distance from Aragorn unable to face him after that day. Legolas wanders around stopping to look at the waterfalls.

"Avoiding him doesn't change anything" Elrond's voice says from behind him
"Elrohir told you" Legolas murmurs
"No, he didn't. He didn't need to" Elrond responds

While Legolas was glad that Elrohir hadn't told Elrond he still felt bad about his feelings for Aragorn.

"Arwen loves him. She could give him her immortality. I can't break that" Legolas sighs
"Estel does not love Arwen as she loves him" Elrond says
"I don't understand why he wouldn't. I have seen them together" Legolas whispered
"They see each other differently. Arwen may love him like a lover but Aragorn doesn't see her like that he sees her as his sister" Elrond says

Legolas sighs softly, not sure what to say or do about the situation.

"Get some rest Legolas. The Fellowship should be leaving in a week or two. Maybe less" Elrond says before leaving

Legolas wandered around Rivendell for a while before returning to the halls where everyone, well apart from the elves, was asleep. To Legolas' surprise Arwen and Aragorn were awake but separate from each other.

"Is everything alright?" Legolas asks Aragorn
"Not really" Aragorn sighs
"Do you want to talk about it?" Legolas asks
"No, it's too soon but thank you for offering mellon" Aragorn says

Legolas nods slightly and gets into bed trying to get some sleep. But sleep did not come. His mind was on many things.

The danger of being in the Fellowship and of the journey itself. Mirkwood and his father, Thranduil. Tauriel and her departure. Aragorn and Arwen.

Legolas found himself lingering on a thought. A memory even. It was between Legolas, Thranduil and Tauriel. Mostly discussing Echelon, the piece of work that terrorised the half elven guards and volunteers, but Legolas was thinking about the darkness Thranduil had seen. Legolas had written it off as Dol Guldur but now had doubts, fearing something more than an old fortress was playing on his fathers mind. Legolas had only dared to go back to Mirkwood once since the dwarves but hadn't seen Thranduil in a personal sense.
