I wake up too early on Saturday. I rub the sleep from my eyes as I sit up slowly and groan as I see that it is 8 am. I glare at my door, hearing banging noise from downstairs, that must've been what woke me up.

I climb out of bed and throw on a black tank top and baggy gray sweat pants before I leave my room. I walk down the hall and to the stairs, the banging getting louder as I walk.

Once I'm downstairs I head straight to the kitchen, expecting to find my mom. My steps falter from shock when I see my older brother, Josh, standing behind the counter, a spatula in hand.

"Josh!", I exclaim as I stare at him, still stopped in the doorway.

He looks up at me, a broad smile on his face, "Hey, little sis".

I finally recover from my shock and run over to him, wrapping my arms tight around his neck in a hug. He laughs as he returns my hug, lifting me off the ground slightly.

"What are you doing here?", I ask once I step back from his embrace.

Josh is in college at the University of Georgia. He rarely has time to come home, because of football. He normally tells me when he is coming home, so seeing him now is a huge surprise to me.

"Can't I come and check in on my baby sister?", he looks at me with an amused look.

I laugh and nod, "Well of course, but its just out of the blue. I wasn't expecting you", I look down at the flour covered counter then back at him, "Are you trying to cook?"

He shoots me a playful glare, "I am, actually. Blueberry pancakes! They are still your favorite, right?".

I nod my head and hop up on a clean spot on the counter, "Mom is going to kill you when she sees the mess you made". I smirk as I look around at the room, grabbing a blueberry from the box and popping it into my mouth.

My brother can do a lot of things, but cooking is not one of them. I have tried to teach him, but he just can't seem to get the hang of it. He can't even follow basic recipes.

He looks around sheepishly and ruffles his thick brown hair. "This does look really bad, huh?".

I smirk as I nod my head, hopping off the counter and grab a rag from the drawer and tossing it to him. "I'll make you a deal, I will help you clean this, if you take me out to breakfast".

He catches the rag easily and smiles gratefully as he holds out his hand to seal the deal, "That's a deal".

I clasp my hand with his in a shake, looking up at him as I see a twinkle of amusement in his sea green eyes.

Josh glances over at me, before putting his eyes back on the road and asks, "Where do you wanna go eat?".

I lean forward and turn on the radio. As I try to find a decent station, I respond, "IHop?". I glance over at him as I find a country station playing "Take Your Time".

He nods and smiles, "Sounds good, and don't change it, I like this song"

I lean back in my seat, relaxing as I listen to the song, tapping my fingers on my leg to the beat. We sit in silence for a couple seconds, before Josh starts singing along.

I don't wanna steal your freedom

I don't wanna change your mind

I watch him, an amused smile on my face, before I join in with him. Josh turns up the radio as we sing the song together. I look out the window and watch the scenery pass my window.
